Tips For Your Road Trip:
Games for children...no more "Are we there yet?"!
1. Pick a type of road sign or something else that you see fairly often:
restaurant billboards, for example, or BP gas stations, or a certain bumper sticker. The first
person to spot one gets a point. Set your own point goal.
2. Each player has to complete a phrase, such as "I'm going to _____ on
a _____ to _____", or come up with your own creative phrase. Each word must start with the same letter of the
alphabet. Example, "Im going to Disney World on an
duck to see Donald Duck."
3. License Plates: This is a classic. Watch the license plates:
Whoever finds the most states wins. Or sharpen your math skills with
plate numbers. If they
add up to more than 10, one team gets a point; 10 or less, the other
team gets a point. Or find plates where the beginning of one has to
match the ending letter of another. So many variations...
4. Look for something off in
the distance such as a radio tower, bridge, exit or a prominent landscape feature.
Everybody guesses how many miles or seconds away it is, and the odometer/clock will tell
you who made the best guess.
5. Bring along travel board games, such as travel Scrabble, Jeopardy, Chess, cards, etc. Have a little family fun.
Note: The driver should not participate in these activities and should focus on safely operating the vehicle.
Save Money! Tips for your Wallet:
1. Check to make sure your tires are properly inflated. This is
important for fuel efficiency and safety. Air pumps are available at
most BP stations.
2. Use a rewards credit card. To get upto free $50 and up to 6% cash back on your BP purchases and upto 2% back on all other purchases, visit www.bpvisa.com
There's NO annual fee! *we are not affiliated with BP, Visa or First National Bank.
3. Avoid breakdowns on the road by having routine maintenance, such as
checking the belts, and water and motor oil levels before any road
trip. We recommend Castrol brand motor oils. BP Motor Club is a good backup in case of any car troubles.
4. Avoid sudden stopping or acceleration. Save fuel this way!
5. Vaccuum your car. You'll like a clean feel.
6. Bring along supplies such as a map, spare tire, snow equipment (in
the winter), insurance information, registration, license, and possibly
a first aid kit, medication, healthy snacks, music CDs, etc
Remember Safety:
Avoid dark areas at night; keep your valuables out of sight and your
doors locked and windows rolled up, avoid road rage, fasten your seat
belts, NEVER drive drunk, and be alert. Be ware of scams- never stop in
an isolated area; always drive to a well-lit trafficked location.
