Tans Peru Domestic. Big for Cusco and Iquitos. Comments: "Talk about dodgy. I'm not sure these guys are still in business, but last I heard this Peruvian outfit operates a handful of ex-Egypt air 737s and some Fokkers that look like they've been through World War III. They were rumored to be expanding out of the Peruvian domestic market into Chile and possible Miami. Classic bare bones third world outfit. Definitely thrilling when the plane starts vibrating uncontrollably over the Andes. Don't take your girlfriend if she means anything to you.".
Star Up - No webpage but read this report: "As far as I know, Star Up operates a single Antonov-24, the workhorse of old-school Soviet Aviation, between Lima and Cuzco once a day depending on...well depending on one thing or another. This baby got us airborne alright, a classic, knuckle-biting ride over the Andes. Made me recall images from "Alive". The stench of exhaust in the cabin, luggage falling out of the bins, nuts and bolts (I'm not making this up) rolling around on the floor... but you know, not altogether a bad experience. I mean if your time is up, bah boom! Do it in style. Do it with drama over the Andes! The Antonov-24 may be ugly, but it's one of the toughest planes ever made, able to withstand Siberian winters, artillery fire, and runs on Vodka".

Johannesburg remains the main international airport, but there are an increasing number of flights to Cape Town and a few to Durban. There's an airport departure tax of 6.00 for domestic flights, 10.00 for flights to regional (African) countries and 30.00 for other international flights. ~~~~~~~~~SOUTHERN AFRICA~~~~~~~~~
GUIDES, TOURS, BOOKING AGENCIES, SEARCH ENGINES
LESOTHO - There are no direct buses between major South African cities and Maseru. One has to take a bus to Bloemfontein or Ladybrand and catch a minibus taxi from there. Minibus taxis run between Jo'burg and Maseru. Buses from Maseru for South African destinations leave from the bridge on the South African side of the border.
Hire cars are a popular option in South Africa and, if organised at the time of hire, can freely be driven in Lesotho.
Entry via Sani Pass is only possible with a 4WD. If you're adventurous, you can leave Lesotho by that route (you might feel you're in free-fall some of the way). There is a road tax for everyone leaving Lesotho, set at a whopping 0.40 (who cares which currency!).
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Lesotho.
SWAZILAND - Swaziland has 11 border posts with South Africa and one with Mozambique, and the smallest posts close at 16:00 or 18:00. There is a bus service from Mbabane to Maputo in Mozambique, and buses ply the roads between Mbabane, Durban and Capetown and Jo'burg to Mlilwane. Minibus taxis also run between Jo'burg and Mbabane, but for most other destinations in Swaziland you'll have to take a minibus taxi to the border and then another from there to the nearest town, then change again.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Swaziland.
BOTSWANA - Although international flights arrive in Gaborone (African and British airlines) it is usually cheaper to do your long-haul flying to Harare or Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), Windhoek (Namibia) or Johannesburg (South Africa) and then travel overland or fly into Botswana. You can enter overland from all of Botswana's neighbours. The Trans-Namib bus runs between Ghanzi and Gobabis (Namibia). Buses and Minibuses run between Gaborone and Johannesburg. Buses to Zimbabwe include the Gaborone to Francistown, Bulawayo and Harare service and the Kasane to Victoria Falls service. The bus line between Livingstone (Zambia), Victoria Falls and Windhoek passes through Kasane. To get to Zambia otherwise, you need to catch the Kazunguka ferry over the Zambezi River.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Botswana.
NAMIBIA - Major airlines fly from Europe, Australia and the US to Windhoek; however, flights are limited and it's often cheaper to fly into South Africa and go overland or by plane into Namibia from there. South African Airways and Air Namibia operate daily flights between Johannesburg (Jo'burg), Cape Town and Hosea Kutako Intl, 42km E of Windhoek. Air Namibia also flies twice weekly between Windhoek and Harare, Victoria Falls, Lusaka, Maun and Gaborone. There are border crossings from Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa and bus companies service these routes. Driving between South Africa and Namibia is quite comfortable on well-made roads, and it's also possible to hitch, although truckies expect to be paid these days (about 1.50 per 100km/62mi).
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Namibia.
MOZAMBIQUE - Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) and TAP Air Portugal) fly into Maputo. But if you're coming from Europe or a distant part of Africa, the cheapest option is often to fly to Johannesburg and take the bus or train from there to Maputo. LAM and South African Airways fly between Jo'burg and Maputo, while Pelican Air flies between Jo'burg and Vilankulo. If you're coming from Tanzania, LAM flies from Dar es Salaam to Maputo, and from Mtwara (in southern Tanzania) to the town of Pemba (N Mozambique), avoiding the adventurous land border crossing. The airport departure tax for international flights is 20.00.
Best land crossings - South African border. Daily trains between Johannesburg and Maputo (15 hrs). There are also minibuses running between Maputo and various South African towns, and a daily direct luxury bus connecting Maputo and Johannesburg. Minibuses also run between Maputo and towns in Swaziland, crossing the border at Namaacha, Mozambique.
Other border crossings - less convenient, less reliable. You can cross between Palma (NE corner of Mozambique) and Mwambo, Tanzania, but there's very little transport S of Palma and the roads are very bad. The main crossing is at Cassacatiza, NW of Tete. From Tete, take any Moatize chapa over the bridge past the SOS compound to the petrol station, where you'll find chapas to Matema. From Matema, there is infrequent transport for the 200km to Cassacatiza. There are two main crossings between Mozambique and Zimbabwe: Nyamapanda on the Tete Corridor, and Machipanda on the Beira-Harare Road.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Mozambique.
MADAGASCAR - Air Madagascar, Air France and Inter Air have flights to Madagascar. Air France flies direct from Paris. Air Madagascar flies from both Johannesburg and Nairobi, while InterAir flies from Johannesburg. The airport departure tax is always included in the price of airline tickets.
Sea travel is possible but not easy. Cargo boats from Mombasa or Zanzibar often travel to the Comoros islands from where several ships travel to Toamasina (Tamatave) in Madagascar. Boat travel from South Africa is infrequent. Ask around in Durban, trying the Port Authority. If you're aiming to leave Madagascar by boat, it's best to head to Toamasina (Tamatave) and enquire at the port.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Madagascar.
MAURITIUS - Apart from a few people who arrive by yacht or cruise ship, visitors to Mauritius fly into the country. Many flights originate in France, but there are also flights from several African, Asian and European capitals as well as from the US (via Europe) and Australia. You must have a return or onward ticket before arriving in Mauritius.
Cargo ships ply the Indian Ocean regularly, though few take passengers. You're more likely to find passage on the private yachts that call in at Mauritius outside of cyclone season, berthing at Grand Baie or Port Louis. About the only guaranteed way to come or go by sea is to book fare on the MV Mauritius Pride, which cruises several times a month between Mauritius and Réunion, or to board one of the cruise liners that periodically drops anchor in Port Louis.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Mauritius.
LA REUNION - Flights between Réunion and Mauritius, the Seychelles, Comoros, Mayotte, Madagascar, South Africa, Kenya and metropolitan France. For other international destinations, you'll have to get a connecting flight from Mauritius. From France, it's generally more expensive to travel between July to mid-September and at around Christmas time. There's currently no departure tax. Roland Garros Airport is located about 11km E of St-Denis. A special airport bus travels frequently between the airport and St-Denis, as do taxis. Cruise liners mostly give Réunion a miss in favour of the Seychelles or Mauritius.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Reunion.
CORMOROS & MAYOTTE - Flights direct from Europe, non-European cities and other islands in the area, although few and far between, land at either Moroni (Grande Comore island) or Mayotte. Strictly speaking, Mayotte is not a part of the Comoros islands and it should be noted that although Mayotte is geographically close to the other Comoros islands, its political and social distance makes it difficult to use as a jumping-off point to them.
Moroni airport, Hahaya, is 19km N of the city centre. After paying for your on-the-spot visa you can get to the city centre by taxi, although a lack of money-changing facilities at the airport means the fares rocket. Planes flying into Mayotte land at Petite Terre (Pamandzi), and getting to the mainland of Grand Terre requires catching a share taxi to the ferry terminal at Dzaoudzi, and then catching another taxi, or walking, to your hotel, at the other end. There are no money-changing facilities at Pamandzi airport either, so fly in with French francs already in your pocket.
You can sometimes get a berth on ships sailing from mainland Africa to Madagascar, and they'll drop you off at either Grande Comore or Anjouan on the way. This method requires diligence and patience, as there are no ready-made systems to handle foreigners from the mainland travelling to Comoros by sea.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Cormoros & Mayotte.
ANGOLA - Direct flights from Paris (Air France), London (BA) and Lisbon (TAP). There's also a direct flight from Houston – 'The Houston Express' – check out Houston-Express.com (Sonair) for details. You can also fly to Luanda from Addis Ababa, Brazzaville, Harare, Johannesburg, Kinshasa and Windhoek.
By land, the only border that's officially open is with Namibia. You can enter at Santa Clara from Oshikango (Namibia) or at Calai from Rundu (Namibia). Other borders are either only open to refugees or are far too dangerous to cross.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Angola.
ZAMBIA - Best air connections with Zambia from Europe. BA, KLM and Air France all have regular services to Lusaka. African carriers flying to the capital include Air Zimbabwe, Ethiopian Airways, Kenya Airways and South African Airways. Many tourists fly directly to Victoria Falls. Lusaka Airport is 20km E of the centre. There's no airport bus, but taxis and hotel courtesy vans meet international flights.
The most fabulous way of entering Zambia by road is over the Victoria Falls Bridge from Zimbabwe. The main route between Lusaka and Bulawayo, from where you can reach Harare, crosses the border here. The other main border points with Zimbabwe are Chirundu and Kariba, where you cross between Zambia and Zimbawe over the massive Kariba Dam.
From Malawi, the main crossing point is east of Chipata, on the main road between Lusaka and Lilongwe. The only crossing point between Zambia and Botswana is the ferry across the Zambezi River at Kazungula, about 60km W of Victoria Falls. From Namibia, buses run from Windhoek to the Namibian outpost town of Katima Mulilo. From here you can cross the border into Zambia, go over the Zambezi on a ferry, then go via Sesheke to Livingstone. An easier option from Katima Mulilo is the bus, which runs through Botswana to Victoria Falls in Zimbawe, from where you can easily cross the border to Zambia.
Check out LonelyPlanet.com - Zambia.
MALAWI - International flights from Europe or other parts of Africa use Lilongwe Intl, although a few regional flights go to/from Blantyre. Regional destinations with direct flights to/from Malawi include Harare, Nairobi, Lusaka, Johannesburg, Dar es Salaam and Maputo. Even when two airlines serve the same route, fares are pretty much the same. BA flies between Lilongwe and London once a week. There are daily flights to Nairobi from Tuesday to Sunday, from whence you can continue to Europe. You can also connect with flights to Europe and Australia from Johannesburg.
The Malawian ferry Ilala runs twice a week between Likoma Island and Cobuè, Mozambique. The train is the best way to get between Malawi and northern Mozambique. There are twice-weekly trains between Nampula and Cuamba. Crossing other points of the Malawian border will involve a bus, a car or feet. If you're heading for southern Mozambique, there are buses between Mwanza and Zóbuè. Other bus routes between Malawi and Mozambique include Nsanje and Villa de Sena, just south of the Zambezi River, and Chiponde and Mandimba.
The only land crossing between Malawi and Tanzania is at the Songwe River bridge north of Kaporo, in the far northwestern tip of Malawi. Buses make the run twice a day. The main crossing point between Malawi and Zambia is about 30km (20mi) east of Chipata, on the main road between Lilongwe and Lusaka. All crossing points on the Malawi border are open roughly from 06:00 to 18:00.

Tuvalu.
Don't be surprised if you hear more of Tuvalu - which lies just S of Kiribati and is East Pacific (i.e. timewise ahead of the rest of the world). Here we have 9 coral atolls of south sea paradise. PacificIslandTravel.com reports: Formerly called the Ellice Islands, Tuvalu came under British jurisdiction in 1877 and was made a British Protectorate as the Gilbert and Ellice Islands in 1892. Legally separated from the Gilberts (now Kiribati) in 1975, Tuvalu became an independent constitutional monarchy and the 38th member of the Commonwealth in 1978. This beautiful tropical island consists of a chain of nine low-lying coral atolls, situated in the central Pacific, just west of the International Dateline. The word Tuvalu means 'cluster of eight' and aptly describes the coral atoll group. The world's second smallest country with a total of only 26 square kilometres, Tuvalu has a pleasant tropical climate with little variation between day and night. All nine islands are inhabited with one or two villages on each outer island. Funafuti is its capital and administrative centre.
The government owned Viaku Lagi Hotel facing the Funafuti Lagoon is Tuvalu's only hotel. There is also the Fisherman's Lodge, formerly a family home converted into a guest house, the Hideaway Guest House, Su's Place Guest House and Filamona Lodge with the Kai restaurant which specialises in local food. There are no camping grounds. Off course there are also the budget guesthouses but these can usually only be booked on the spot. Flights to Tuvalu (fm www.pacificislandtravel.com/tuvalu/)
There are plans to establish a national airline in the near future. Presently Air Marshall Islands, the airline of the Marshall Islands, offers return flights to Funafuti three times a week from Majuro (Marshall Islands) via Tarawa (Kiribati), twice a week from Nadi (Fiji), and once a week from Suva (Fiji). Wallis & Futuna.
The location of Wallis & Futuna just S of Tuvalu is best seen at PacificIslandTravel.com Uvea is the Polynesian name for the Wallis and Futuna islands, situated 340km east of Samoa and 3000km south west of Tahiti. The centre of Wallis Il is semi-desert with pandanus trees. There are no venomous creatures and the island is encircled by a lagoon of some 95 square kms and seafood and fish are plentiful, as are ducks and pigeons. On Futuna there are beautiful beaches on the east coast and volcanoes in the centre, the biggest being Mt Puke which reaches 760 mtrs with vegetation growing up each side. Hotels exist but are not in abundance so pre-booking is advised after a flight is secured.
Although Samoa and Fiji are the clossest neighbours in distance, there are no regular flights to Wallis and Futuna from these destinations. Air Caledonie has a twice weekly service from Noumea (New Caledonia). One flight is just roundtrip Noumea - Wallis (3 hours), the other flight connects Noumea - Wallis - Futuna - Papeete (Tahiti).

Tonga.
Tongan Skyscanner.net All cheap airlines flying from Tonga.
Royal Tongan Airlines went into recievership circa 2004 and the company's site http://www.royaltonganairlines.com/ is a deadlink. See Royal Tongan/Royal Brunei for the story of the airline that lost its only plane. A site FlyRoyalTongan.com claims to be under construction - but is not dated.
Royal Tongan Airways (Nuku'Alofa). The "special" airline used to fly regular flights between Sydney-Auckland-Nuku'Alofa (Tongatapu Il), Nadi-Tongatapu as well as regular flights between Auckland-Tongatapu-Hawai'i. Daily flights were offered between Tongatapu-Ha'apai-Vava'u as well as the closer flight Tongatapu-'Eua. These daily flights did not include Sunday services, which is a restricted services day in the Kingdom of Tonga. Flights to the outer-island Niua group were infrequent, due to the small populations and lack of demand, but one often heard about one-flight per month. RTA also provided the flight service to Niue which links together with the flight scheduled from New Zealand.

-West Pacific - Tokelau, Samoa, American Samoa, Niue, Cook Ils, French Polynesia, Pitcairn and Easter Il
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tokelau
Want to get away from it all? Head off to Tokelau (500km N of Samoa), where there's no capital city, no airport, no harbour, no cars, no banks, no guns and no tourism. What it does have is plenty of islands - 127 of 'em - plus fantastic lagoon diving and Polynesian culture at its most untouched. Tokelau is a territory of New Zealand and has 1'500 inhabitants in all. Another 6'000 Tokelauans live in New Zealand
A fortnightly cargo ship, the Tokelau, travels from Apia (Samoa) (36 hours) and anchors offshore whilst passengers and cargo are transferred via small boats and dinghies - a truly hair-raising experience if seas are heavy. Yachties will find Tokelau a challenge as there are no harbours, anchoring offshore is difficult and the low-lying atolls are easy to miss. To top it off, you'll need to get a visitor permit in Apia before sailing off to Tokelau.
Fakaofo Island. Fakaofo's 62 islets don't make it the biggest of Tokelau's three atolls, but it has the highest population, at around 580. There are also three churches to cater to the atoll's Protestant and Catholic inhabitants. Fakaofo has a prime example of a traditional village hall, with a coral slab personifying the god Tui Tokelau still standing outside.
Nukunonu - Tokelau's central atoll, has 24 islets and was named Duke of Clarence Island by Captain Edwards of HMS in 1791, while he was searching for HMS mutineers. It's the largest of Tokelau's three atolls and has the largest lagoon. The other main feature of note here is the extremely pragmatic village hall - a cargo shed.
Atafu is the smallest and most traditional of Tokelau's three atolls. Protestant fervour means there are rationed alcohol sales and a greater reliance on old-style dugout canoes. The island also has more traditional houses, largely due to its prized supply of building wood.
Samoa
Samoan Skyscanner.net All cheap airlines flying from Samoa (E Pacific).
Polynesian Airlines. Polynesian Airlines is the national carrier of Samoa. Their route system includes Tonga (Fua'amotu) and Samoa (Apia) to Australia and New Zealand, Fiji. Also American Samoa (Pago Pago), Hawaii, Los Angeles. Niue (Hanan) is flown from Auckland and Apia. NZ destinations from Apia are Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Australian destinations are Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Good cross island schedules here.
Air New Zealand serve Norfolk Island (AU), Noumea (New Caledonia), Nadi (Fiji), Tonga, Apia (Samoa), Rarotonga (Cook Ils), Papete (Tahiti, FP) and Honolulu (Hawaii).
OrientPacific has specials with Polynesian via Auckland and Air New Zealand to Samoa.
SouthPacific.org - gives local maps and information and greater in depth information. Also an island/s map and guides.
American Samoa.
Air Samoa. Travel to and between the islands of is easy. For travel to the outer islands of American Samoa -- that is, Ofu, Olasinga, and Ta'u -- the lifeline is a small local airline called Samoa Air. Flying DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otters carrying 18 passengers, these rugged, safe turboprop airplanes fly to the outer islands as well as to Western Samoa several times a day. Their faster, sleeker Beechcraft King Air flies a twice weekly service to Vava'u (Kingdom of Tonga).
SouthPacific.org - gives local maps and information and greater in depth information. Also an island/s map and guides.
Niue - Unspoilt Polynesia – the way it all used to be
Niue is one of the worlds largest emerged coral atolls - a saucer shaped island made from the basement of an isolated volcanic cone, 64 km's in circumference with an area of 260 sq. km's. Highest point is 69mtrs. Currency is the NZ$ and tourists get a 30 day free visa on arrival. The "cold" months are Aug and Sep when the temperatures drop to 19c-27c (a hot English summer). Crime has yet to be invented here and anyone can go for a walk in the dark.
Read NiueIsland.com . Only Polynesian Airlines fly to Niue and there are only two flights per week! One direct flight leaving Auckland, NZ at 0150 every Sat, arriving in Niue at 0500 Fri morning (Niue is over the international dateline and -23 hours behind NZ). Another flight arrives in Niue at Mon 0210 from Samoa (departs Apia 0100) and leaves 0300 hrs to arrive in Auckland NZ 0630 Tue.
Hanan Intl Airport is located 5km south of Alofi and a shuttle bus runs to town. Otherwise it is taxi, rentacar or rentabike as this small island doesn't require public transport.
No crowds – ever! - There are less than 90 hotel rooms in Niue, so sometimes the number of visiting whales out-number the visiting humans. Seriously.
SouthPacific.org - gives local maps and information and greater in depth information. Also an island/s map and guides.
Cook Islands.
Cook Islands Skyscanner.net All cheap airlines flying from Cook Islands.
According to www.ck , the Cook Islands Website, Air New Zealand and Aloha Airlines , fly the Cook Islands presently. Once there, you will be flying Air Rarotonga to get around the islands. Check out their Schedule
Aloha also serve Kwajalein and Majuro Atoll (Line Islands of Kiribati), Pago Pago and fly via Honolulu to Vancouver and several Western US destinations (Las Vegas, Reno, Burbank, Oakland, Sacramento, Orange County, Phoenix) and Vancouver. They also fly all over Hawaii.
Air New Zealand serve Norfolk Island (AU), Noumea (New Caledonia), Nadi (Fiji), Tonga, Apia (Samoa), Rarotonga (Cook Ils), Papete (Tahiti, FP) and Honolulu (Hawaii).
Air Tahiti Nui. "The Air Tahiti Nui company was only created in 1996. The Airline maintains regular flights between Tahiti and Los Angeles and between Tahiti and some Asian Cities. The airline has at the moment one Airbus airplane". However the company's website at www.airtahiti-nui.com returns a message that it has expired.
Air New Zealand serve Norfolk Island (AU), Noumea (New Caledonia), Nadi (Fiji), Tonga, Apia (Samoa), Rarotonga (Cook Ils), Papete (Tahiti, FP) and Honolulu (Hawaii).
OrientPacific has specials with Air New Zealand and Qantas to Tahiti.
SouthPacific.org - gives local maps and information and greater in depth information. Also an island/s map and guides.
Pitcairn
Final domicile of the mutineers of The Bounty. See and read Pitcairn Island Website which will tell you all and give all the links to everything and everyone but not to transport or tourism. Interesting links to the islanders' cousins on Norfolk Island can be found here.
The Government Website links to Tourist Information - "The Island Council and The Pitcairn Islands Office do not endorse any travel organization seeking to sell tours to Pitcairn Island" and "Visitors planning to land and stay in the Islands must first obtain a licence to land and reside".
Interesting reading is this British island with New Zealand currency tourist unwanting destination.
It certainly has no airfield and no decent harbour. A New Zealand supply ship helps the islanders out when the seas permit.
SouthPacific.org - gives local maps and information and greater in depth information. Also an island/s map and guides.
Easter Island (Rapa Nui), Chile (Isla de Pasqua IPC)
(Location map) is served by LAN.com from Santiago SCL, Chile and by Qantas.co.nz from Auckland, NZ. Most sources claim that only LAN flies to Easter Island but the LAN flight search will drive you nuts.
SouthPacific.org - gives local maps and information and greater in depth information. Also an island/s map and guides.
EASTER ISLAND (RAPA NUI) AGENTS, TOURS GUIDES Bugbog.com - World wonders - Distant Pacific island containing around 2,000 inhabitants and 300 mysterious stone statues, moai. Although owned by Chile - 2,300 miles away - most of the Rapa Nui population are of Polynesian extraction. A bleak, wind blasted and bizzarre experience, for sure. Jeeps, bikes and horses for rent. You can expect wind, lots of it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Palau
Palau is coming
Northern Marianas
Northern Marianas is coming
Guam
Guam is coming
Micronesia
is now flown only by Continental.com which appears to have swallowed up Air Micronesia. The route from America is primarily from Newark, Houston or Los Angeles to Honolulu and then either direct to Guam or via the Marshall Islands (Majuro and Kwajelein Atolls), Kosrae, Pohnpei, Chuuk (Truk Ils), Guam. From Guam there are connections to nearby Rota and Saipan as well as to Japan, Taipei, Hong Kong, Yap-Palau-Manila, Bali and Cairns.
You can also pick up Continental on Hawaii after flying there with Aloha Airlines from Vancouver, Las Vegas or 4 Californian airports. Aloha also flies on from Honolulu to the Marshall Islands (Majuro and Kwajelein Atolls) as well as Pago Pago (American Samoa) and Rarotonga (Cook Ils)
Air Marshall Islands is supposed to fly in these regions so check out their cute webpage which only claims to fly Kiribati, Tuvalu and Fiji.
On editing, I found a new airline Palau Micronesia Air which serves Palau, Yap, Pohnpei, Chuuk & Truk Lagoon (divers haven), Guam (the island of no birds where America's day begins), Manila, Philippines and Darwin, Australia.
Divers will love to visit mdaguam.com
Pacificislandtravel.com writes about Micronesia: Flying to and between the Micronesian Islands is usually an expensive affair. Continenal Air Micronesia offers direct and islandhopper flights from Honolulu and several Asia gateways (eg. Manilla and Tokyo) to Guam. On the islandhopper routes, you may make stopovers of say a few days or a week.
Marshall Ils
Kwajalein Atoll (Marshall Ils) is on Aloha's schedule but not in the booking options (might be the 1 stop between Hawaii and Majuro though) but Air Marshall Islands greets with Yokwe! Bula! Talofa! Kona Mauri! (Welcome to the Blue Paradise) which is sort of heartening considering Bikini Atoll of nuclear testing fame is also in these islands. You'll need the "Islands" page of the next reference to understand the destination schedule of Air Marshall Islands. See also the impressive webpage is at Kwajalein Atoll - Republic of the Marshall Islands
Majuro Atoll (Marshall Ils), Mustn't be forgotten and is flown, together with Kwajalein Atoll by Continental.com on its way to Micronesia. Majuro is also flown and bookable by Aloha.
Midway Islands
Hawaii
Hawaii and the Pacific are served by Aloha Airlines . Aloha also serve Majuro Atoll (Marshall Ils), Raratonga (Cook Islands), Pago Pago (American Samoa) and fly via Honolulu to Vancouver and several Western US destinations (Las Vegas, Reno, Burbank, Oakland, Sacramento, Orange County (Santa Ana) and Phoenix) plus Vancouver. They also fly all over Hawaii.
Island Air Serves islands all over Hawaii.
America West Airlines Phoenix based airline flying all over the USA including Alaska & Hawaii. Also Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica.
Cumbersome website which shows Toronto to Costa Rica in $ (dollars) without specifying which dollars! Toronto to CR appears to be cheaper than from Chicago.
Air New Zealand serve Norfolk Island (AU), Noumea (New Caledonia), Nadi (Fiji), Tonga, Apia (Samoa), Rarotonga (Cook Ils), Papete (Tahiti, FP) and Honolulu (Hawaii).
