How it all started...
As many of you already know, Nancy and I have been planning this trip for several years...since our first trip to Alaska back in 1993 as a celebration of our 25th anniversary. It was on this trip that both of us fell in love with the beautiful and majestic scenery, the wonderful cool summer temperatures, and especially the fishing that Alaska had 
to offer.
Our RV trip this summer will make our 5th visit to Alaska, but the first time to drive it. Each of our past trips have consisted of flying to Alaska, spending a week or two up there, and then flying back...all the while wishing we could have stayed in Alaska for the summer. I guess you could say...Alaska has been our favorite vacation destination since our first trip up there...and finally, thanks to our somewhat flexible schedule this summer..., and a new (to us) 5th Wheel RV, it looks like we are finally going to be able to spend more than just a few days in our 2nd most favorite state.
Why this website and trip journal?
Actually, this is a "work in progress"...as a result of my brother Dave's suggestion. Both he and I have always been "amateur photographers", and we both like to share pictures and journals of our more successful fishing and hunting adventures. Some might think this boring, but others seem to enjoy them...so as long as we keep getting a little positive feedback, I guess we will continue to do them.
Dave, his lovely wife Peggy and their faithful dog "Blue" had the opportunity to make a marathon road trip to Alaska last summer (Aug. 2006),
so when he heard of our plans, he came up with the suggestion of setting up a website...and posting the pictures we make, along with a journal (or diary) of our trip...instead of trying to e-mail the pictures back to selected individuals (as he had done on their trip last summer). Now all I have to do is figure out how to operate and navigate through all of the technical data, and post some pictures and a journal of our trip. As I said earlier, it is a "Work in Progress", so if everyone will bear with me... we will give it a try.
Nancy and I hope you will bookmark our website and join us...as we journey from Texas to Alaska and discover "the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" experiences of living in an RV for the next 2 months.
