I pledge
My head to clearer thinking,
My heart to greater loyalty,
My hands to larger service, and
My health to better living,
For my club, my community, my country, and my world.
Tranquil Menagerie is a 4-H group in Tolland County, Connecticut. We are a group that has many interests in animals along with other activities as well. We have two co-leaders, Liz Henson of the Henson Menagerie in Bolton and our other leader Kristen Engebretson of the Tranquil Morning Farm in South Windsor.
Our 4-H group has two teen leaders who aid in the overall organizing of the club, and will have a few junior leaders to help with specific projects. These teens help lead the activity meetings and also help the other kids in the club learn about their interests. Ashley and Rob are our teen Leaders. We will also have junior leaders in charge of helping to lead the animal meetings for rabbits, poultry, goats, llamas/alpacas, and sheep.
Besides animals, our 4-H group currently has an interest in using the fibers from our animals to do fun arts and crafts. We take mohair from the angora goats, angora fibers from the angora rabbits, wool from the sheep, and llama fibers from our llamas as well. We can make blends of all these differents types of fibers, dye them, and make our very own jewelry, clothing, etc. which can also be entered into the fair. We are a very busy club that takes joy in doing all kinds of fun projects!
Our club will have a focus this coming year on Community Service and hope to complete various projects in this area.
