Making Money in The Recession

It can be done!

The economic climate is dire, albeit just part of a cycle of recession and boom. I think you have to be over 40 to say that …

So do we all pack up and go home, put dustsheets on our computers, watch TV for 3 years then come bouncing back again? No!!! We adjust our marketing practices accordingly and carry on making money.

One thing stays the same, indeed it increases, and that’s everyone’s desire to make money. They have the desire, the need and unfortunately those out of work will have the time. What they don’t have is the set up capital and the money for monthly outgoings. So forget those expensive 2-Up programs.

Go Low

Most payments into my accounts are less than $10. These come from three main sources:

Prospect Blazer Paid Lead Capture Pages

These are the lead capture pages which sell software/ebook packages for $7.95. You can see a list HERE.

Every Pro member of TrafficVibe can do this as they have access to a free Prospect Blazer account (saving $497 a month). You can read about the system HERE. This is a way to build your list – properly, with double opt in leads straight into your autoresponder – and get paid. And it’s a simple customer paying you situation, not one of those deals where the poor sap has to work out how to pay 5 people plus admin and gives up half way through. They can also pay you by Paypal.

Cost to Join: Nothing; it’s free for TrafficVibe Pro members, and it’s only $10 to upgrade to Pro

Sales from Instant Payment Sites

This is a brilliant system with three sources of income:

1) Sales from the TrafficVibe eBookStore

This is SO much better than early versions of the ebook sales programs that were popular. The company provide the site. You can change it to have your own choice of featured products etc and can choose your own price. I have it set at the minimum of $5 per book. The reasoning behind that being that I’m selling much more in the $7.95 packs. The company deal with all customer service enquiries. All you do is promote the store site.

2) Sales from individual sales pages.

Each book has its own sales page which you can promote separately, for example:

Making Money Online for Newbies

Mailing List Gold

There are hundreds of sales pages to choose from.

3) Commission from selling the system

You are paid $5 a month for each member you introduce. Excellent banners and recruitment websites are provided. You can sign up HERE (and see the recruitment site)

Cost to join: $12.95 a month

Baggabucks

Make $5 a time reselling this easy system. Plus a pay-to-click feature if you want to earn that way. I don’t usually recommend any PTC plans but this one pays. Join HERE.

Cost to join $8 with no monthly payments.

Sell Products for the Recession Niche

The Bad Times Buster package is part of the Prospect Blazer program. As you can see, it includes a variety of recession/save money related products with resale rights for only $7.95. You could also sell individual products at lower prices.

If you’re in the UK you need to be in Utility Warehouse, selling discounted utilities. Everyone needs to save money!

Think Outside the Box

Realise that some will take more risk. You should consider Autosurf programs. Dismiss them if you want to but consider them. Read more HERE.

Be Generous

Are there ebooks and other goodies you can give away to help others? Do you have spare time to help people on forums? Why not give stuff away instead of stressing about selling it?

Save Money

Create a spreadsheet showing every program, every traffic exchange upgrade, every subscription to this and that. Make one column headed "cancel" and look what happens to the total when you gradually move figures to that column. Be ruthless. Will the sky fall in if you don’t have that monthly subscription? You could be wasting $100 a month on those itsy bitsy $5 a month subscriptions. It never seems much but they add up!

UK folks – are you paying for phone calls? Why? You can get free calls to the UK and many countries worldwide from Utility Warehouse and you’ll save on your bills too. Get the UW cashback card and you’ll get 5% cashback on your shopping in Sainsbury’s (including petrol) Boots, Comet., Argos and other stores. That will be a lot of your Christmas shopping!

You should also have an Ei42 account. You can earn commission on your own shopping.

US/Canada folks - make sure you have the right long distance provider. You can check rates at http://www.arcadiancalling.com/

Spread the Risk

Your MLM company may have been around for years. That doesn’t mean it will be here tomorrow. In these economic times the "focus only on one program" snobs are going to look foolish when their program collapses. We are entrepreneurs. Self employed. Why rely on one source of income?

There are many ways to make money in the recession. It needs imagination and, above all, common sense.
