Hello people! I'm an Italian Shar-pei breeder since 1990. My name is Giuliana. My first litter was born in 1991 with four pups, all ¡§meat mouth type. Two of them have eventually made to become Italian Award of Merit Champions. However, my second litter born only a few days later, seven pups all together, were traditional Chinese type. I was totally amazed at the differences between the two litters. I was very intrigued by this phenomenon so I started to read all information I could find to try to understand what was going on. Ever since then, the traditional Chinese type has become a very special existence for me, not only for their look but also for their special intelligence and agility.

Over the years, I have always been breeding the true traditional type Chinese Shar-pei. This hasn't been an easy choice for me because most people prefer and love ¡§meat mouth¡¨ Shar-pei or American type Shar-pei. Breeders prefer to breed meat mouth type for its commercial interest.

It is my conviction that it is meaningful and very important to preserve the traditional Shar-pei, with its original look, temperament, and especially, health. So this site is born with the intent to offer to all supporters (breeders and owners alike) of the true traditional type Chinese Shar-pei, a platform to exchange ideas and opinions, with the hope that our voices together can make a difference in working towards preservation of this traditional Shar-pei; with the hope that eventually FCI will recognize that there are two different types of Shar-pei.

We encourage you to register in our forum, and if you have good quality picture of your ¡§bone mouth¡¨ type Shar-pei, please do send them us. We have a logo. If you are a breeder and you have a website, please feel free to copy and paste this logo in your site and link it to this site to express your support of this site. Please let us know when you put the logo in your site, then we can edit our site to cross link back to your site.

When I had the idea to form this Club and started to build this site, I have contacted some prominent supporters and specialist of traditional Shar-pei around the world, such as Mr. Eric T. Omura, a judge of the breed in Hong Kong, China and U.K. (Midland Shar Pei Club), and Ms. Kikka Posti, President of the Shar-pei Club of Finland; both of them extended their greatest support on the idea of forming this club from the very beginning. It is sincerely hoped that this idea of putting all our effort together can contribute to successful preservation of the TRADITIONAL CHINESE SHAR-PEI.
