Command Droid
|
Model:
Battle Droid
Height:
1 meter
Weapons:
Trade Federation Blaster Rifle
Extra Info:
The next higher class of battle droids available to the Trade Federation are the Command level droids. Unlike the infantry battle droid, these droids enjoy a certain level of autonomy and self-control. More importantly they act as the key component between the Master Control Signal server and the individual battle droid. Operating an entire army as each individual unit is a staggering proposition - the bandwidth alone would require several Master Control Computers, slow the responses of each battle droid down substantially - suicide on the battlefield, and drive operating costs far beyond reasonable expenditures. Instead, the Trade Federation relies on the Command level battle droids to act as routers for the infantry. Specific signals are sent to the Command droids, where the orders are dispersed amongst the troops, thus streamlining the process. Should the loss of one of the command droids occur in the field, of battle, the Sampled Movement ROMs carry the severed battle droid into range of another Command droid.

0.5 meters p/sec
Roll speed:
4.17 meters p/sec
Weapons:
double blasters
Extra Info:
A three-legged battle machine also known as a droideka, the destroyer droid features twin laser cannons that rapidly fire at opposing forces. The droid can activate its own deflector shield, and is capable of rolling like a wheel to move quickly from one location to another.

Type:
Battle Droid
Manufacturer:
Baktoid Combat Automata
Weapons:
Blaster Rifle
Vehicles:
AAT,MTT,STAP,Trade Federation Battleship
Extra Info:
While critics would be quick to point out a battle droid's mindlessness as a fault, the proponents of the mechanized soldiers would counter that it is instead a virtue. A mindless soldier is a loyal soldier, unquestioning of orders, easily controlled, and absolutely fearless.

Pilot Droids
|
V-1 Pilot Droid
This was a series of droids who were programmed to fly freighters and other non-military starships.
V-6 Pilot Droid (Vulture Droid)
Manufactured by Industrial Automaton during the height of the New Order, the V-6 series of droid was designed to replace the somewhat successful V1 series. These droids could hold more hyperspace jump coordinates than a standard astromech, and had enhanced programming which allowed it to take control and fly a starship, but they were poorly programmed for combat flight.

Super Battle Droid
|
The infantry used by the Trade Federation had several major shortcomings that were carefully revisited by the battle droids' designers. From that research came the super battle droid, a bulkier, stronger, and more advanced version of the standard mechanical soldier.
The super battle droid requires no overriding command signal to operate, and thus has a limited degree of independence. Delicate componentry that was clearly visible in the standard battle droid design is now protected by a hardened armored body-case. Mounted on its right manipulator is a double-laser cannon built into the droid's design. Super battle droids, like their inferior predecessors, have very rudimentary programming and are poor at formulating attack plans. They are, however, fearless and tireless, and will run at full speed into combat, their cannons extended, firing until they have reduced their targets to smoldering ruins.

YVH-1 (War Droid)
|
YVH 1
developed by Tenandro Arms and known as Yuuzhan Vong Hunters, this was a line of specially-programmed military droids, designed to combat the increasingly dangerous Yuuzhan Vong threat to the galaxy. First activated some twenty-seven years after the Battle of Yavin, the YVH-1 was given top-of-the-line search-and-indentify engineering, allowing it to distinguish between the alien invaders and the citizens of the New Republic. It was heavily armed, having a variable-output blaster cannon in its right arm and an adaptable left arm which could accept heavy lasers, projectile launchers, and sonic rifles. The YVH 1 was protected by layers of laminanium armor, giving the droid regenerative armor plating. In stature, the YVH-1 was strikingly similar to a Yuuzhan Vong warrior, although it was never learned if this was intentional and meant to provoke the alien invaders. Because of their appearance, they were often referred to as Yuuzhandroids. As the war against the Yuuzhan Vong wore on, Lando Calrissian had the droids programmed with coded messages for use as war cries. More often than not, the war cries were in the Yuuzhan Vong language, and made known the fact that machines were superior to the Yuuzhan Vong.
YVH S-series
developed by Tendrando Arms, this was a specialized version of the Yuuzhan Vong Hunter One combat droid. It was given a unique form of laminanium armor plating, which had the ability to mimic the surroundings of the droid and provide excellent camouflage.
|
YVH - M (Mouse Droid / Vong Hunter)
|
This combat droid was derived from the original YVH-1 Yuuzhan Vong Hunter droid. Lando Calrissian and his confederates took the central processing unit of the lumbering YVH-1 and extracted the key programming, then stored it in a miniature processor that fit inside the chassis of an MSE-6 mouse droid. This new droid had several advantages over the larger unit. First, it could move about in almost any location, following any individual it suspected of being a Yuuzhan Vong infiltrator. Second, because mouse droids were used throughout the galaxy, and because nobody ever paid them any heed, the YVH-M could move about in virtual obscurity while it searched for possible Yuuzhan Vong individuals.

Battle Droid (Generic)
|
While critics would be quick to point out a battle droid's mindlessness as a fault, the proponents of the mechanized soldiers would counter that it is instead a virtue. A mindless soldier is a loyal soldier, unquestioning of orders, easily controlled, and absolutely fearless.
It was the invasion of Naboo by the Trade Federation that showed the galaxy not only the effectiveness of battle droids, but also the glaring oversights in their design. Against a peaceful populace, the Trade Federation army of battle droids was able to quickly conquer and take control of the Naboo population centers. Battle droids are tall, gaunt humanoids with exposed joints and bone-white metal finishes that gives them an eerie resemblance to animated skeletons. Battle droid infantry is frightening in its uniformity -- only a numerical marking on the back of a comlink booster pack serves to distinguish one droid from another. Droids with specialized functions have distinct colored markings on their armor. Blue denotes pilot droids. Red denotes security droids. Yellow denotes command droids, which function with increased autonomy compared to the standard infantry. Battle droids are very efficient. Their humanoid builds allow them to operate machinery and pilot a wide variety of war craft designed for organic pilots. For the Trade Federation, the battle droid infantry piloted STAPs, MTTs, and AATs as well as their colossal battleships. For ease of storage and transportation, battle droids could compress into less than half their size. Following the Naboo debacle, the Galactic Republic enacted strict legislation that prohibited the use of battle droid armies. The budget-minded Trade Federation cut valuable corners in the production of their Baktoid Combat Automata battle droids. These units were rushed into production to meet the Trade Federation's sudden military needs. A mindless soldier is an inexpensive soldier, a laudable trait in the slit-pupilled eyes of the Neimoidians. The cost of thousands of individual droid brains was avoided by instead relying on a Central Control Computer (CCC) housed in a modified Trade Federation battleship. Motion-capture data of highly trained organic soldiers gave the battle droids a flexible array of combat stances, positions and maneuvers, but the droids themselves were only as strategically capable as their programmers aboard the Droid Control Ship. Following the fiasco at Naboo, a new generation of battle droids was developed that featured enhanced intelligence and independence. Raith Sienar was assigned a protective escort of such droids for his mission to Zonama Sekot.
