Introduction to On Line Communication and Technology

This is a journey through Module 3 of my On Line Degree.

This will be a long and hard journey,I do not take to techno stuff very well, mmmm why am I working on a Ba Hons degree in research and technology? because I know that if I educate myself in this area I will be better equipped to pass on my knowledge to the children, colleagues and parents who attend my school I also need to do this for my two children as ICT will be a massive part of their lives as they themselves go through school.

This will be a long and arduous , one in which my frustrations will run high....

So my LapTops packed ,mouse and internet cabling on my back I've  started on my journey......

I will update this web page regularly to tell you of the wonderful web sites I have visited and the knowledge I have picked up.  But in order to start the journey Via my On line space I need to Communicate.....

I need to become proficient in the use of On Line Communication tools, the nature of the web and theories behind On Line Learning. This web site is dedicated to these topics as these will make it necessary for me to complete my journey......Mod 3 LA's1-4

So please visit again

and watch the story unfold

So....Whats it all about? This web?

My first Learning Activity leads me to research the web and it's history http://wombat.doc.ic.ac.uk/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?Tim+Berners-Lee  I had never considered the history of the web until I researched it.

I used Power Point for this LA, I feel it presents itself well in this genre, I have tried to keep the slides simple, making use of the note tool when appropriate.

"The World Wide Web is part of the Internet; a global network of interconnected computers."

It's amazing, in such a short time communication has become world wide at the touch of a key. I can email, chat, blog, have a one to one conference with relatives who live on the other side of the world. Most importantly at the present time I can Learn....

Two years ago I  never imagined that I would be using these tools to communicate let alone, to work with an On Line Degree. My On Line Tools include a whole host of personal tools such as portfolio tools, blogging,MSN,Skype and Wikis.

This web site is public, any one, just like yourself, can come along and read my work, because of this I have to be aware of moral, legal, social and ethical issues surrounding the use of the internet. Any information I use on this web site must give credit  to the author.

This quote taken from my original web site

"The thought of going into the ICT suite would fill me with fear,it was a dark, dull environment to teach in, far too warm and the computers never did what you expected of them. To be honest it was a place I HATED a strong word I'd agree but the truth."

This web site is  a story of evolution of my interest, enthusiasm and encouragement I have mastered the use of basic On Line tools, which include email, chat, blogging, but I need to spend  more time researching others. I'm not sure I'll be packing MSN, Skype or Wikis in my back pack but I'll see...

I don't want you to think I'm leaving these out just delaying the use of them until my confidence grows.
