Hi All,
my name is Billy (the pyrie) or for those who have never had the pleasure of encountering such a wonderful breed I am a Pyrenean Mountain Dog.
I was born in Welsh Wales in a place called Troederhiew in 2001, the only dog puppy in a litter of seven, and went to join my new family when I was 8weeks old.
I share my home with my young human pets Megan and Rhys and the ole duch Tracey(she won't be happy with me..........) as well as Lilly the kitten who is at that irritating stage!!! The four tortoises who are nae bother except when they try to nibble my bone when we share the lawn, and the hamster who is the 3rd in my lifetime so far. We did have Zak another Pyr for a year but reluctantly he was rehomed with a great lady called Jean who has acres of space and other Pyrs. A change in working hours meant that the ole duch couldn't devote the time to him he rightly deserved and his young pet Megan didn't fulfil her side of the bargain.
SO ALL YOU POTENTIAL PETS OUT THERE "A DOG IS FOR LIFE" NOT A PASSING FANCY ---YOU ARE WARNED---
We live in Scotland and I love the snow, it's great as the ole duch often has trouble finding me in whiteouts, and I have a laugh to myself when she calls out for me and cant see me at the end of her nose...... it's a blast daft woman.
I am actually very obedient for a Pyrie I believe, and can be let off lead and don't wander off. Th ole duch though is cautious if there is a hint of fox in the air as my protecter insticts take over, and I may run in search of the creature who could be out on the hunt for the weak and innocent.
You see us Pyrs were originally bred to protect the sheep in the French Pyrenees from marauding bears and wolves, heroes we are...
I am shown lightly but get fed up posing about like a nancy boy,tho it keeps the ole duch happy and my younger pets like to partake in Junior Handling with muggins me on the end of the leash, in fact Rhys came 1st at the October show 08 with moi!! what a team eh.
I like to run and play and get dirty, which is natural for us dogs, not being all shampood and smelling like a tarts boudior. However sometimes I have to endure this awful experience of a wash n blow dry at some fancy salon.
I can often be seen running by the banks of the River Tay or River Almond looking to cool off and have a drink in the water.
