Full History

Toaster Oven was a notoriously famous board, once not thought to have existed.

Until April 1st, 2004, otherwise known as April Fools day, Toaster Oven was revealed to the public, as a joke board, listed under "Special Boards".

Around 2:19 AM, The Phoenix of Sno took initiative and posted Toaster Oven's 1st topic, inside, the 1st post.

Some posters, around the first days, were NES Kess, a founding father. He brought THE ONE, LunarHawk99, to the TO board. Here the first day, posting shortly after POTS, in "The Founding Father"; he has done all he can to truly be one, earning a spot in my history.

LunarHawk99 and Katslover, each known for famous things [Kats for 1,000,000th user. Lunar for last LUE account.], posted on TO at different times and days. Kats posted on Wendsday, April 14th, 2004, and Lunar when the board was only 2 days old. It seemed that TO was gaining more and more attention.

Passed around by several LuE topics and text-to-text over AIM and MSN and YIM and others, TO became popular and wide-spread.

The very next day, setting a record, it reached over 10000 messages. It was a shock for every TOaster, because it was not apparent at the time that TO was going to be this popular.

Taking a little longer then 1 day, TO's 20000th message was posted on April 4th, 2 days after the 10000th message.

Following the same schedule, 2 days later, TO's 25000th post was posted on April 6th. Half of 10000, and the same time, it was apparent that TO had slowed down tremendously. But there was justification, and it was a real deep one: There were not enough fads, and topics were un-interesting.

On Thursday, April 8th, 2004, TO set another record. Just 7 days, 1 week, after TO's unveiling, it hit 30,000 posts. Closer to it's big brother LUE then ever.

On Saturday, April 10th, 2004, TO set yet another record. 9 days, it hit 40,000 posts. Closer to LUE then ever, by 5000 posts. THE greatest TO day.

On Saturday, April 10th, 2004, TO got 6000 topics. Lucky day. Robbman and Irish Youngster just passed each other by .10 of a second.

Jolt135, a pretemptious user, got extremely lucky and accomplished these: the 1000th topic, a Post at 04/04/04 04:04:04 PM, the 20000th message, and the 40000th message

[After this month, May, GameFAQs and GameSPOT merged, all boards in disarray. Toaster Oven's messages fluxuated, over and under 10,000 frequently.]

During that time period, a very "open" TOaster decided that he wanted to stir things up, so around the time that 10000th post was posted, he suicided. Making a topic dedicated to links of porn, over 50 of them, he was moderated out of his mind, and banned. Accordingly, his user name was "Banninator".

Sucess Dude, deciding to suicide also, made a topic on the 10th of April at about 7 PM EST; with the topic as "Teh Pr0n!". This was the worst TOasticide EVAR.

SpYdA v5 decided to follow in someone's footsteps and do a TOasticide as well. Time unknown so far, he posted in a topic which got deleted. Inside, as always, were porn links, about 50 of them, copied and pasted from someone else's TO/LUEicide. Also included were some erotic storires. Basically, he outdid every TOasticide and violated every TOS possible, censor bypass, etc. This was rated by the user BlackCompany86 as 9/10 because "It lasted 25 mins...it lasted long."

BethanyN, mimicing the username BethanyM, who is a CNET advisor to GameFAQs, TOasticided by posting a couple of censor bypasses like "Sl.ut" and others, also posting a ASCII art of BethanyM. This was TO's 1st BethanyM TOasticide, and it was pretty funny.

PaperLuigi Again, making TO's 1st Blank topic, ruled the messageboards for that time. THE greatest topic so far, spawning on the 8th of April. For this unbelievably funny prank, the mods decided to suspend him. He has earned the second Suspended-because-of-TO status. [From that time, He has currently lost 25 accounts. His newest accounts are Xelon and Chocolate Syrup. He is considered a "suicide master".]

On April 11th, 2004, Sunday, the most remarkable and anticipated event happened: Toaster Oven had finally passed LUE in messages. It was a half half victory, seeing as that TO had never been purged, but it was still a landmark event.

Brauma Man makes history again in this document, earning his own line.On April 10th, Tuesday, Saturday in the morning, he made a 500 topic in less then 2 1/2 hours. Incredible. Mr.Bobbart followed with his own, but not a fad. Totally different title. I couldnt make a 500 topic for my life. So special lines for both.

On April 4th, the first fad to TO hit. Started by Irish Youngster, entitled "Planned 500 topic"; the topic's post called for a unified, 500 post topic. I posted several times in that, trying to make the time zones work. Following that fad were several "Dark" versions, as well as straight-out copies. Alas, I created Irish Youngster's 500 post topic, and not 1 person posted in there. The fad died down a day later, April 5th.

The 4th 500 topic of TO was "JOIN the Toaster Oven Elites!!!!"; to which I was the 500th poster. This topic was just a regular topic, but with a standby basing of rankings. TOFU copied this.

DavidCarr8owns started a "David's Dashboard-[insert title]-[#] Edition", which were 500 topics. He also had Speed topics, which mostly Kitsune and his 40+ (is it 40+ now?) accounts massively posted.

[There have been many, many other 500 topics, too much to keep up.]

Getting the 4000th topic and toppling LUE was Slick Willy.

The sudden birth of "Who is our leader?!" topics spread after noon on April 6th, 2004, as Phoenix was largely voted. I also ran, but alas, he had the first post. He is not accepted as the leader, rather, as a representative.

The first, major, widly used fad was "The Funny thing is, [insert]" by Overlord Mordax. Seeing over 10 clones of her topics, 2 being the "dark" ones, this topic was crazily used within the first 2 days of TO's revealing.

The second, widly used fad was "=-=-=-=-=-[insert] Club -=-=-=-=-=" by SpiritOfMiddleEarth. As Overlord and Irish's topics were, this faced many clones and "dark" versions, many of them being extremely funny. RiptideS tried to get a list of people to help prevent TO from becomming LUE2. It was not intended to become a fad, but do to what was going on at the present time, they made it into a fad

Another great fad, used by me as well as others, but never "dark" versions, was "...but whats that got to do with [insert]" by BobFromPikeCreek. Unintentionally creating this, he claims, he was just making sure that his signature link was gone-to. But TOasters saw the opportunity and copied the fad.

The "Does everything have to bacome a [insert]" by ScarsOfTommorow was another fad, not widly used, 4 clones. The text inside was funny for the original, the second and third clones weren't too good.

"And then, I found out that [insert]"by Brkn Phoenix was the most recent one, used on April 6th, 2004, as well as started on the same day. It was not "dark" copied, and had 2 or 3 clones, one by me. Extremely funny.

"You bought a manual one, didnt you?" by Juggernaut became used on April 6th, 2004.

"Shut up and Fish"; by LiekOmgItsGauntlet, was very much used and posted by users. This was very much a widespread fad, spawining over 5 topics.

"I feel like I'm taking [insert] pills!" by Phoenix of the Sno was also widely used on April 6th, spawing over, again, 5 topics. This is one of my favorites.

*puts [insert] in toaster* explains itself, made by GoldBLARGH.

"I declare myself [insert]" was a compilation of several joke topics, started by CloudRox2, immediately cloned by Cell.

"[insert]" was created by me. Some people took advantage of that, and made several topics of the "[insert]" vareity.

Another very minor fad was "Pray for [insert]," which had around 6 topics.

"Does everything have to become a [insert]" by ScrarsOfTommorow was also a semi-good one.

"And then, I found out [insert] "by BrknPhoenix, mocked by Xtremevillan.

" *puts [insert] in toaster oven* " by GoldBLARGH is self-explanatory, it is about what he puts in his toaster oven.

"I am getting a lap dance on Saturday from [insert]" by Paperluigi Again was a good topic, hilarious. Girls, cousins, goats.

"I always get nervous when I [insert]"s topic creator is unknown. Mainly sex was in here.

"It?s confusing when there?s [insert] fads going at once", by Loki 37, mocked all the fads in TO. Funny.

"geezus...everything becomes a [insert] on this board", by GoodEyeSniper, mocked everything that TO had in the posts.

"Nothing rhymes with [insert]!", by Geocat, featured some brainbusting rhymes. Orange was the hardest. Orange, morange...storange..nothing.

"I?m out of [insert]" by Loki 37 was basically like a grocery list. Everything was out.

"Hey, [gender], I'm a [item/gender]" was the most spread out one, besides the 500 topics, used about 6 or 7 times in the hour. Inspired by Mercutio6 in this very mind-bending post: "This thread is over 63 posts in 15 minutes because this person is female. Threads such as my welcome thread and other male welcome threads are shunned and given a mere look over and toss. It goes to show how much power the female gender has over the typical GameFAQs user merely because they find the fairer sex intriguing. It's something interesting.". Seeing this, and making a topic was MrIQ, starting the "Hey, guys, I'm a girl". BrknPhoenix retaliated with "Hey, guys, I'm a goat".

<--------Anyone [above/below] this line is [insert]------->, by I am U, is my favorite fad. I was once a LUEser fanboy, a drug addict, and not a real TOaster. 2nd best fad evar.

"I'm gonna go [insert], on your face!" was also a mass-spread topic, started by PaperLuigi Scandal, after his neferious Blank topic.

"I'm gonna kick [insert] [insert direction up or down] a notch" was started by eternalplayer2345, with some funny ass stuff inside, spawning over 5 topics in the same hour.

"OMG MY [insert] IS ON FIRE" was started by BebiBoy. Spanning over 5 or 6 topics in the same 2 hours, if not day.

[From there on, fads were taken 5 or more topic clones, and that also proved to be a hit. Since I cannot be there all the time, I decided not to take any more fads. These are the classics you see and will only see, unless I exception.] it.

But everyone had not realized that the moderations on TO were not all well. To this day, I believe, there has only a few moderations, showing the lightliness of the board. At 25 minutes to midnight on the opening day, Exile07 set the honorable record for the 1st moderated message on TO. On April 13th, 2004, I have also been moderated. 1st for the CENSORED PORN topic, as well as my numerous "# to #0000 posts" topics. A sad day. Even more struck when moderators started watching this board. I am ashamed to say that people are moderating topics on TO, I thought the point of this board was to have fun while posting humorous stuff. A black day in the books.

WaffleCakeBoy, encouraging me to make a funnyass topic, entitled "To's 1st CENSORED PORN PICTURE topic." Inside, GameCubeKing earned the 5th Moderated message of TO.

Umaro, one of the biggest and coolest legends of the brother board, LUE, posted at 9:00, his first topic. Great moment.

Another LUEser, Nightdagger, has a bit of a more...stingy comment. "The board's existed for a little over a week. On GameFAQs, that's not enough time to become notorious for anything. TO isn't the same age as LUE, because LUE's existed a damn shade longer than a week. If TO somehow manages to remain somewhat popular for a few months, then you might find LUEsers a bit more willing to accept it as an independent board. Right now, TO is just an upstart that's stolen and corrupted our fads. I, personally, see it dying a very agonizing death after the novelty wears off...or after the mods start going gung ho on TOshi like they do LUEshi. After all, TO is a public hidden board, LUE is a private, hidden, restricted access board, so you can't honestly expect that CJayC is going to let TO become another LUE without taking action. There's a reason why he locked LUE down, and he's not going to let some LUE clone run unchecked, I'd bet."

I agreed with some of the points made, and countered with this: "Points taken, NightDagger, but remember the original reasons. TO, yet, hasnt done any pranks to get CJayC into legal waters or invade any boards. So, CJayC has no reason to [close down TO]."

To the TOasters, this board either was a clone of LUE, surpassed LUE, or was not good enough to be compared to LUE.

I would call this board a seperate of anything, with actually good people roaming this board, answering questions. This has become one of the most non-corrupt, light boards GameFAQs has ever seen.

Inevitable as it was, TO was purged on April 19th, 2004. From the massive amounts of topics. over 300 pages at 20 topics per page, it decreased to merely 32, messages well ofer 90% were demolished. The saddest day in TO so far, the effects are still out there, with may users making the "PURGE" topics.

I do think that Toaster Oven will never be the same, as we slowed down tremendously. [from now on, AP means "After Purge"]

Shortly after the purge, about 12 hours, we went back on schedule. We got 1000 topics on Thursday, early morning.

Again, mostly right after the purge, this taking a day, we hit 10000 messages on Wendsday, late in the night, around 1 or 2 hours before the 1000th AP topic.

But Toaster Oven prevailed, with a little help from the user U N N. Linking a picture of his ass, scanned, [click
here], and created a stir that lightened the load of TO quite a bit. This was very memorable events, and I felt that I should write them down.

From: RidingTheMetro55 | Posted: 4/28/2004 5:24:48 PM | Message Detail That topic and SaferEmerald's extreme horniness costed me 10 Karma and gave me Warned status :P
I doubt she will come back since she is now the slut of TO.
---
She, in my mind, is EXTREMELY hot and very pose-able, and she's 16, so that's a plus. I don't have a link, so you'll have to wait for a while.

Other girls that came out, but not as slutty, are: VampireKity, Tetiel, NotSoEasyChair, among many others. These girls are idols on the TO board, pretty much any topic they make hits over 50. Kind of frustrating, but understandable.

Tuesday. The breaking point in TO.

The total count was 24 people who did.

Mass suicides. there were 5 actual suicides, some posted censor bypasses and just acted with the suicide, getting banned as well.

It all started when PaperLuigi, getting a failing grade in Science, and got his computer (as well as internet) taken away. He felt he should go out with a (like his AIM SN says) bang. And so he did. This is memorious, and name-event worthy, since a lot of TOasters got their name banned. XBL was one of them..The day shall be known as Black TOasday

On Saturday, May 29th, 2004, a major thing on TO happened. Almost every topic was fadded.(I was not there, thanks to my SHITTY FUCKING ISP NETZERO BEING DOWN >_<) What resulted in it was major moderations, topics about moderations, fadding topics, and even moderation fadding topics. The end result in this was a huge day known as FADurday.
