Week 1

14th

Alresford Town are looking a different team from last season when they struggled to make an impression, they made a tremendous start with a ten goal thrashing of Granley Rovers Red. They then followed up with a good victory over Bashley Tigers where Jimmy Hawkins grabbed his second hat-trick of the day. Most of the other games in the white league were closely matched with very few goals being scored.  Oakwood Tigers grabbed two victories by a solitary goal in each case, whilst new boys Tadburn Cougars had a reasonable start, beating Totton Rangers Blue by three goals following a narrow defeat by another new team Warsash Wasps Red who then narrowly lost to St Francis Rangers.  St Francis completed the double with a win over Totton Rangers Blue who went home with nothing to show for their efforts

Alresford Town continue to set the pace in the White League securing maximum points with victories over S & D and Oakwood Tigers. The Tigers narrow victory over AFC Hiltingbury Blue does keep them in second spot, but they are being closely pursued by Littleton Leopards who picked up maximum points on the day after and indifferent start. AFC Hiltingbury Blue remain winless following their defeat by S & D for whom Logan Lintott, Ashley Diaper and Connor Arthur were on the mark. Hamble secured their first win of the season over bottom placed Granley Rovers Red, Totton Rangers Blue did likewise, downing Winchester Hawks by four without reply, they now lift themselves from the bottom of the table after week 1. The Hawks did however end the day on a happy note as super sub Ben Cawson came on to grab a late hat-trick against Warsash Wasps Red to earn two hard fought points. Wyvern Saints started their season in good style picking up three points on the day after edging out Totton Rangers Blue and sharing the points with Warsash Wasps Red

Alresford continue to set the pace in the White League, but they had to battle for victories over Littleton Leopards and Hamble. The losers did get compensation as both grabbed the points against AFC Hiltingbury Blue. Oakwood Tigers drew both their matches against the other Tigers from Bashley and Granley Rovers Red, S & D did slightly better against the same opposition, drawing with Granley but sneaking past Bashley by the only goal of the game scored by Logan Lintott. A Matt Smith hat-trick saw St Francis Rangers run out 6-0 winners over Winchester Hawks, who had to go back home up the M3 pointless after also losing out to the odd goal to Tadburn Cougars. The Cougars completed a good day with another win, this time over Wyvern Saints by a 3-2 margin.  The Saints did recover with an excellent win over Winchester. This week was Totton Rangers Blue turn to miss a couple of games they resume league action next week

Alresford suffered a similar fate to BA Juniors by also losing their 100% record, dropping their first point against Warsash Wasps and then losing to the only goal of the game against Totton Rangers Blue, Ryan Warren grabbing the Totton goal. Spare a thought for poor AFC Hiltingbury Blue who had to face the two teams that did so well against Alresford.  Totton knocked in seven without reply, with hat-tricks coming from Ryan Warren and Tom Darling, they then lost after a recount by ten clear goals to Warsash Wasps for whom Billy Shiner shone with five and Owen Kew weighed in with three. St Francis Rangers manager Mark Simpkin raced back from his holiday for todays game and it was a trip worth making as the Rangers picked up maximum points, mauling Oakwood Tigers by six without reply (Jake Simpkin and Pat Smith both grabbing a brace), and then lowering the colours of S & D by 2-0, Jake Simpkin being once again on target. It was also a good day for Wyvern Saints in the Whit League as they won their encounters with Littleton Leopards and Hamble by three and four goals respectively whilst keeping clean sheets in both games. Tom Bowden notched a goal in the first and then a hat-trick in the second for the Saints.  Things also improved for Winchester Hawks this week as they shared the points in their local derby with Littleton, having sent Hamble down the river with three without reply in their other game

Tadburn Cougars proved their cup victory over table topping Alresford was no fluke as they really rubbed the salt in with a 6-0 thumping on this occasion, clearly stating their own ambitions for the title. Elliot Mitchell-Lee grabbed a hat-trick for the Cougars and followed it up with a brace in their second match of the day, a 5-0 victory over AFC Hiltingbury Blue. Things went from bad to worse for Alresford as fellow title contenders St Francis Rangers raced into a 30 second lead against the shell-shocked ‘ford. Just when it looked like they were about to go home pointless, Julian Cooks country boys staged a remarkable late rally to steal both points from the Rangers and keep thing interesting at the top of the White League.  St Francis kept in touch at the top thanks to a seven goal mauling of bottom placed AFC Hiltingbury Blue, Matthew Smith contributing a hat-trick. Totton Rangers Blue with Ryan Warren hitting in 4 goals picked up two wins with victories over Bashley Tigers and Granley Rovers Red, the Reds did get some compensation though, with a narrow victory over Warsash Wasps Red, who then followed suit, scoring three without reply against Bashley Tigers.Winchester Hawks continue their improvement grabbing two victories courtesy of a pair of hat-tricks from Ben Cawston.  Their victims S & D and Oakwood Tigers suffered similar fates against Wyvern Saints for whom Ben Lucas grabbed four and Tom Bowden notched a brace in each match.

Tadburn Cougars recorded two more victories to keep them in pole position at the top of the White League, Elliot Mitchell-Lee grabbing a brace in both victories over Littleton Leopards and Hamble.  St Francis Rangers also came up against the Leopards and Hamble.  It took a James Worley strike with 4 seconds to go to give the Rangers the narrowest of victories over Hamble, whilst the Leopards caved in against them leaking ten without reply, Jake Simpkin (5) and Matt Smith (4) on target for the Rangers. Close up behind the leaders, Wyvern Saints also picked up maximum points scoring four in each of their games against Granley Rovers Red and Bashley Tigers. Tom Bowden was the Saints star with five of their eight goals. Winchester Hawks had a mixed day against the same opposition, beating the Tigers 4-1 thanks to a Ben Cawston hat-trick but somewhat surprisingly coming out second best against Granley for whom Matthew Hayter put away the only goal of the game. The early kick off matches in the White League were all closely fought affairs with Totton Rangers Blue and Warsash Wasps Red both picking up maximum points against S & D and Oakwood Tigers.

Wyvern Saints found Alresford a difficult nut to crack in the White League and had to settle for a point in a goal-less encounter.  They did find their shooting boots in their following game against AFC Hiltingbury Blue, Tom Bowden and Ben Lucas putting away hat-tricks in their 7-0 win.  Winchester Hawks also gave Hiltingbury a hard time, Ben Cawston grabbing four in a 6-0 win.  The Hawks were then themselves on the losing end of a 3-0 scoreline against Alresford, Francesca Thornton emerging the heroine with a brace. Jake Simpkin grabbed another hat-trick in St Francis Rangers facile 9-1 victory over Bashley Tigers, the Rangers kept up their title challenge with a second win, this time scoring just four without reply against Granley Rovers Red.  Fellow high flyers Tadburn Cougars also registered wins against Bashley and Granley, Elliot Mitchell-Lee notching a hat-trick in the Granley game.
