Project: Torse

Speak to me. Move me by moving.

Welcome to Project: Torse

It seems as though you have stumbled upon the website for Project:Torse. Welcome and please read on.

 What is Torse?

Torse is a language based off of Morse Code, set to simple taps and brushes off the feet. Inspired by tap dancing, this language is both visual and audible in nature - it can be both seen an heard. In short, Tap + Morse = Torse.

 Why should you care?

For starters, Torse, once perfected and if spread widely enough, could revolutionize the way we communicate. Allow me to explain this by using examples from existing languages. The blind write and read through Braille and converse with speech. The deaf and mute use Sign Language. Most everyone else converses solely by speech. Most people who are not blind nor deaf do not know Sign Language nor Braille. Torse is an attempt to provide sufficent communication between these three groups of people. Tap can be both seen and heard; the very same goes for Torse. Should my intents prove successful, the blind will be able to talk to the deaf independently and vice versa, thus uniting the blind, deaf, and able communities...through language.

Please, however, do note that this language is a prototype. It may or may not bear the fruits of triumph or mastery. I do not expect perfection in the least - I do not have a Ph.D. in Linguistics, Communications, or anything of the like. I'm just a crazy high school student with an even crazier idea who hopes that her crazy idea might make this crazy world a better place in which to live.
