The Scarborough Rapid Transit (SRT) opened in 1985 and linked the east end of the Bloor-Danforth subway, Kenneday station, with the Scarborough Town Centre and McCowan. It utilises 28 cars in four car consists built by UTDC between 1984 and 1986, although the line was originally designed for streetcars to operate on, hence the now somewhat famous loop at Kenneday station. After completion of the line, and the introduction of the UTDC "Mark I" cars, the loop was no longer practical, and Kennedy now operates as a single track, double platform operation.
