GO Transit was formed in 1967 to provide service throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA.)  The "GO" in GO Transit represents "Government of Ontario" the group that formed the agency.

This page is dedicated to GO Transit which provides commuter services on the following routes in and out of Toronto's Union Station:

1)  Lakeshore West to Hamilton
2)  Lakeshore East to Oshawa
3)  Bradford - north to Barrie
4)  Milton
5)  Stouffville
6)  Richmond Hill

The Bradford and Stouffville lines were taken over from VIA Rail.


Go Transit Locomotive MP40 #602 seen arriving with GO Train #918 at Long Brnach on February 22nd, 2008.  #602 is the first of 27 locomotives (nos. 600-626) purchased by GO Transit to be placed into service.  With her 26 sister locomotives, GO will be able to start utilizing 12-car consists as the new MP40 locomitives are more powerful and fuel efficient.
GO Transit F59 designated locomotives #557 and #547 lead a 10 car GO Train east out of Toronto's Union Station on October 20th, 2007.

GO Transit cabcar #24 is on the front of a westbound GO train out of Union Station.

GO Transit F59's #520 and #562 in revenue service on the Lakeshore Line.  They are just pulling into Long Branch Station on a July 2008 weekend.  #562 is operating backwards, something rare for GO since it "standardized" its fleet with F59s.
