Lily bay ( from lake East bank)

6) Looking South west into the Lily bay showing the South central peg / lily bay peg & peg 1 on theWest bank .

View North ( from lake South)

7) View from the South central peg looking North up the lake .

Mist on the water

8) Looking across the middle of the lake from the West bank to the East bank on a misty morning .

More than just water

9) Although the lake is visible in the background (West bank) in the foreground can be seen some lupins this is the area just behind the grill .

Fascinating flora

10 ) Another view of the lake through lupins growing wild on the East bank just below the jetty .

North to South

11 ) A view from the other way round, this time the lake is being viewed from the Northern end .

Family friendly

12) The tongrube is also ideal to introduce kids & newcomers to the sport. This peg is sited about the centre of the East bank behind is a large grassed picnic area and the water in front of the peg is about 1ft deep going to about 2ft upto 6ft from the bank. So if the little darlings do fall in you can easily get them out, a bit soggy but safe.

Not always Sunshine

13) Although most of the views are taken in the Summer we also get Winter here at the Tongrube, this shows the grill / picnic area on the East bank looking North West in fine Winter style .

Peg 2 chilled down

14) Peg 2 on the West bank looking to the central area on the East bank. A Summer hot spot with a good bed of lillies to the front, peg 2 in the Winter is something completely different.

First impressions in Winter

15) As you pull into the 3rd of our designated parking spaces this is your first glimpse of the Tongrube, not overly fishing friendly in the Winter time "but come ye back when spring is in the meadow".

First impressions in Summer

16) So you've decided to give us the benefit of the doubt, you've come back, you pull into the 3rd carpark again and behold a piscatorial paradise, ring home and tell mum to put the dinner in the Dog you're going to be home late.

Strange phenomenon at the waterside

17) During the Summer the bankside sprouts these rather unusual growths, they appear to be akin to fairy rings of toadstools and as the myths & legends would have us believe, if you are really lucky you may see their resident pixies and gnomes. The rods are fairly certain but I believe the red cap is optional.

Inside the Pixie castle

18) No fairy Gold, no red cap, but at least there's fishing rods and if you squeeze the little buggers you may get a cup o' Pixie tea or a drop of Pixie elixir(that's Alcohol) if you're with the right Pixies.

Pixies sighted

19)  And there they were, Pixie Oliphant & Pixie Dinsdale spotted on a crisp sunny December day.(note the cap on Pixie Dinsdale, while not quite red it is rather bright).

Hard core (or just plain daft)

20) Anglers are hardy souls (some would say daft) a Sunday morning in Dec 06, temp.6c water cold. Mark,Steve & Tony brave the elements in pursuit of their sport.(Mark had been there since Friday).

West bank in Winter

21) As you can see in winter the Tongrube is a completely different venue, take a look at view 3 then check back here, same lake same general view..worlds apart.
