Hi Ancients Wargame playa! Lacking something in your wargaming...
Umm..Like any sort of realism and playability?

Pfffft! No worries!
For 30 years we have put up with utter crass, but now we have JUSTIFIED ANCIENTS!
Its a undiscovered secret.A set of ancient rules thats actually good. No really ...honestly.
| Combat is 1X D6 | Any Scale Any Base |
| Well balanced C&C | Incendiery Pigs..(Optional) |
| Create your OWN stats in comfort and safety | Games last 20 mins for a 24 element game. |
| No errata, no exceptions, no long drawn out army list series | Simple as smacking yourself with a plank. But a million times more fun. |
I know that that must be hard to assimilate 'cos each week you go down the club and
the guy with the big paunchy gut and the scraggly beard says "Well actually, at the battle of
Thermopylae the Spartans were in un-difficult terrain and so they only had to recoil half a
baselength unless facing Baggage Exception if they scored less than double on a Tuesday..."
Well Fine, if that floats yer boat click the exit window button and throw away a lifetime
of wargaming goodness, Your loss. actually my loss,
Damm.
Alternatively , why not check out the set of rules that Pamela Anderson (in her good phase)
and Kelly Brooke both are quoted as saying
"Oohhh, yes! Yes! YES! I could only ever love a wargamer who played Justified Ancients"

A Scenario by Mike from the Huntingdon club
City States Confederation
For several months, scouts have reported that the barbarians of the Eastern Mountains have been preparing a raid into the fertile plains of your lands. All summer the watchtowers have been manned and the beacons readied. At last as the harvests were being gathered in, the columns of dust appeared in the dawn. A huge column of not only mountain barbarians but also Northern tribes and strange Easterners. The cities have gathered under the LuGal and now march to intercept the horde.
Name Number Description Notes
LuGal 1x1 General Average
Allied Nobles 1x5 Chariot APC Trained Medium
Shub.LuGal Guards 2x5 Medium Trained
Nim 4x2 Skirmishers Javelins
Waspum 2x5 Light, Missile 9”
Erin.Summa Aga. Ush 4x8 Medium, Missile 9”
Erin.Summa 4x8 Medium
Levy 4x6 Light Poor, Untrained
Objectives:
Ø Hold the field.
Ø Prevent the enemy horde from breaking through.
Ø Make it impossible for the invaders to continue onwards into the agricultural hinterland.
Ø Kill the wily Mountain King who has forged this horde
Special Rule: Chariot APCs are designed to get important people to and from the battlefield at speed.
The charioteers fight like infantry but if they draw or lose by one they withdraw directly backwards and their opponents may not follow up. The Chariots are then disordered. If the Chariots stay in the melee a second round, they DO suffer the normal penalty for chariots.
Zagros Coalition
The Lowland cities have beckoned to you with their decadent wealth and plentiful harvests for years. Now the time is ripe to march upon the enemy fields and seize the newly harvested crops leaving the cities starving over winter and ripe to surrender to your rule by the spring. You have co-opted all the tribes of the East to your cause and brought in a number of Northern strangers with unusual horses and heavily armed shock troops in coats of mail. Even some of the lowland tribes to your East have joined in to enjoy the plunder. Sadly you suspect a traitor in your ranks since the enemy has marched to intercept your march and deny you access to the rich lands of the rivers. There is hard fighting ahead before you will enjoy your first taste of booty that you set you on your way to empire.
Name Number Description Notes
Lu.Gal 1x1 General Average
Maryannu 1x3 Chariot archers 9” Trained Heavy
Aryan Guards 2x8 Heavy! Trained
Lowland Aga Ush 3x5 Light Missile 9”
Zagros Tribesmen 4x6 Light Poor
Zagros Nobles 3x8 Medium
Mitanni Erin Summa 3x7 Medium Untrained
Nim 7x2 Skirmishers
Objectives:
Ø Destroy the enemy field army. You will then be free to loot at will.
Ø Kill the enemy Lu.Gal. He is the mind behind the Lowland Alliances. Without him to bully the cities into providing troops the cities will simply hide behind individual walls to be picked off one by one.
Ø Keep your own Zagros troops intact where possible. The Aryan / Mitanni and the Lowlanders are expendable.
Special Rule: Maryannu: (ok, they’re early, I know they’re early, but they look good….hell, blame it on revisionist chronologies). The Chariots fight like normal chariots except that they do not get a bonus for charging foot but do gain the ability to evade like skirmishers.
Now the whole basis of Justified ancients is that you decide for yourself what troops are classed as in the game. No army lists means I save my ink you save your money and we're all happy..
But through the miraculous power of the internet I can now give some pointers to a few hysterical opponents. This isn't "Official" errata. Its some guidelines.
So there was this Greek guy who said to Cleomenes, pointing at the half dozen hoplites wearing minimilistic equipment.
" That your Phalanx dude? Theyre a bit Spartan"
<Tumbleweeds>
Why do the greeks prefer sugar free drinks? Cos they contain A-SPARTA-MENE

It's a normal axiom of wargaming that you start at 7yr old with Pokemon, move on to Warhammer Space marines at 10, fantasy battle at 11 then Flames of War when you reach puberty. Then as an adult you end up on principle's of war till you die.
But Justified Ancient players are a Rare breed indeed! They break out of this role Fate has woven from them , by regressing, Oh yes.
So here is a Army list for a Snorehammer Realms of Chaos Army. < Insert legalese stuff so GW dont hit me with a massive lawsuit, all >
LORD OV CHAOS
General , 1 per army. Horse Heavy CO Trained HighMoraleThe lord ov Chaos is spectacularly untidy, he constantly loses his credit card and house keys, turns up for battle on the wrong day and is gererally a total n00b.
CHOSEN CHAOS KNIGHTS

These wild men of the lands of Chaos form the bulk of a Chaos army. they are hardy troops wearing colenders on their heads and with wild flowing hair, like Hulk Hogan.Or actually like Hulk Hogan was in the late 1980's 'cos he's probably dead now or on a zimmer frame.

Recently a Ex-mate came round my garage and set up for a game of J.A.
He wanted a unit of Incendiary Pigs.
"FFS!" he said " You Totally have no rules for Incendiary Pigs"
"Doh, yeah...thats 'cos theyre a gimmiky, probably made up unit, in Rome:Total War"
"GIVE ME INCENDIARY PIGS!!!" Quothe he, stamping on my Baleric Slingers.
After patting down the soil on his makeshift grave,
I thought more deeply about this, and TBH, he had a valid point.
Why should i deny J.A Flaming Porkers?
INCENDIARY PIGS
Count as Foot Open Order Poor
In movement phase they can be Lit.
Once lit They cant be unlit.
Lit Pigs become Chariotry Open Order Light with the following modifications.
They are +3 not +2.
In the movement phase do not dice to order them.
They will always move at charge speed in a random direction.
They count friendly units that they move into as Enemy.
They do not suffer from fighting in 2nd round like chariots.
The third turn after being lit they are nicely cooked and are dispersed.
