Here's our story...
Tom was found abandoned in a box at a rabbit show. His eyes were seriously infected & scabbed over. He'd been put out with the rubbish. THANKFULLY THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE THOUGH!!! He was taken to Valerie at GREENWICH RABBIT RESCUE IN LONDON. There, he was cared for & nursed back to health although he was left completely blind...
Luckily I was desperate for a fluffy baby to love & telephoned Valerie shortly after. I asked for her to put aside the Bunny she would most struggle to re-home for me (I didn't care about age or breed). I expected it to be a 10 year old giant that needed hours of grooming or something & couldn't believe nobody wanted a blind baby as beautiful as little Tom!!!
One of my best pals is a veterinary nurse so I was blessed with good contacts. I put him in to see every specialist in the UK & thanks to DOMINIQUE a vet who specialises in bunnies - Tom has pretty good partial sight in both eyes. He was prescribed steroid drops & various creams which cost a fortune but it was more than worth it!!
After several weeks together I decided Tom was more than "able" enough to have a bunny girlfriend...
So, it was back to Valerie at the Greenwich Rabbit Rescue to introduce him to some girls! He seemed to like a little girl named Penny...
We don't know much about Penny's history at all really, other than that she ended up at Greenwich Rabbit Rescue in London.
Thomas & I visited & she was so round & shy looking - he fell head over heals. We did several visits to get them used to each other while she was recovering from being spayed & Tom was waiting for his "bits" to drop so we could get him done too!
They have been fantastic buddies ever since the first time they met & I couldn't wish for better bunnies.
Next to Tom (The Devil) Penny looks like a complete ANGEL!!!
We were told that she was about 3-4 years old by the vet so Tom's 1st birthday became her 4th & they now celebrate their birthdays together in style...
Mummy kept in touch with the nice lady (Val) at Greenwich Rabbit Rescue (GRR) & when she heard that the council wanted to shut her down because of the excess waste produced she just had to do something!!
So for the last year we have been sponsoring GRR in a slightly unusual way - we have all of their rubbish removed!! This way we are also doing our bit for the environment as it all goes to "Green Waste" RECYCLING NOT LANDFILL!!!
