Simple Gunsights for “Warbirds”

 Warbirds   is a Combat Sim, of WWII Planes. Made by I-Entertainment.  It has a feature: U can do your own Gunsight (GS) also called Crosshair.

U can do a default  gunsight or make every plane to have its own.

 

This GunSights are for Hi-res users (1024) 3D mode of WB. But could work in 2-d too, U must try.    I included a ‘Bomb’ aim help in most GS, cause that’s the way i use it...

 

Copy the number code to any text editor as plain text and rename later as ‘xxxx.gst’.

Save your GS with the SAME NAME of the Cockpit U want the GS to work  with and using extension  .gst

 

Example:

1.-Select and Copy the part of  NUMBERS ONLY after the GS name, in this case, for BF109 E.    Select à   How to select (image)

 

2.- Paste to any text editor new document, Notepad, Wordpad, Word, etc... and save as ‘text without format’  in this case, will be ‘bf109e3.txt’

 

3.- Rename as ‘bf109e3.gst’, this is, change extension and put in your Warbirds main directory.     

     U must have the show extensions options of Windows enabled or U’ll get a file named ’bf109e3.gst.txt’ double extension=useless.

     Remember: GS must have SAME cockpit name.    

     In this case the name for BF109E cockpit in hi-resolution is “bf109e3.vew” check the ‘bf109e3’ part only. Don’t care about the .vew or something.

     Take only the part before extension to know the exact name your GS must have.          Name à     Final look in your dir (image)

  

     In the case U don’t know, the Top number U look in every GS code text is the TOTAL NUMBER OF LINES so, if U make a modification to any GS,

     U have to count ALL lines and write or ‘declare’ in the top of code or U’ll get an error message...

 

U are now ready to use your GS.  BUT remember that planes that use same cockpit will use same GS;  i,e, BF109E and BF109F...

 

                       Now, the Gunsights.     This are the first i made, corresponding to screenshots U find below.   Download Set 1à  wbgst.zip

                         Added in Zip are 2 deflection lines designs. Count number of  lines and add to the top number of GS.

U can change your GS color in the setup/colors menu. Just check the “Override gunsight color” option and it doesn’t matter the country U fly for...    U’ll HAVE the color U want for your  GS.
