DC-Militia

 The DC-Militia was originally a national, youth-based organization teaching tolerance for others, and their beliefs. The goal was to try and convey alternatives to Violence and Hate discrimination, and prejudice . Most importantly, we wanted to try and do our part to unite communities, teaching ways to help others who need it. A few years after it's creation, the organization has grown, and acquired not only youth members, but adults as well. These people are from all walks of life, and from all over the country. We even have gathered a small bit of support outside of the US. 

 

With every person that joins the dc-militia we are one step closer to building an educated, united, and understanding world. We will help remind people that there are other ways to deal with disagreements besides fighting. We will help educate people to help diminish racism. We will unify communities and teach people that we are all equals and things will be more easily accomplished if we worked together rather than tearing others down. I believe that with enough support, and enough awareness we all can become better people, but it starts with you, where this goes, how big it gets is completely up to you...

There was some confusion in the beginning as to what the "DC" in DC-Militia stood for. Since it originated in Douglas County some feel that it was only a local thing, but that is very far from the truth. Simply put it actually stands for what we strive for every day... It's our vow of "Determined Coexistence." Don't get it twisted;)

By definition a "Militia" refers to a military force composed of ordinary citizens to provide defense, emergency law enforcement, or paramilitary service, in times of emergency. Now we are no military force that is for sure, but we are a group of ordinary citizens providing a service of great importance, at a time of emergency, and the urgency is why we felt we should take the route of "Militia" rather than being a "club" or "group." We are a force with a great mission, and our goal is simple. Please give us a hand in getting our message out there. Please look around, spread the word, throw out some ideas, sign the guest book... Whatever you want, whatever you can. Thank you, and welcome aboard.
