What are the Fruits of the Spirit?

Love

I Peter 4:8 Above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover a multitude of sins.

Joy

God Himself is the ground and object of the believer's "joy" .

Peace

Proverbs 16:7
When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Patience

It is the opposite of anger, and is associated with mercy, and is used of God's
Patience

Kindness

Kindly, amiable, mild; not severe, rough or violent.

Goodness

Goodness is surely a fruit of the Spirit. Jesus said no one is good, no not one except God the Father.

Faithfulness

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1

Gentleness

It is that temper of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting.

Self-control

...the various powers bestowed by God upon man are capable of abuse; the right use demands the controlling power of the will under the operation of the Spirit of God; in Acts 24:25 the word follows "righteousness," which represents God's claims, self-control being man's response thereto.

How do you develop the Fruit of the Spirit?

Ephesians 4:22-24
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

I Corinthians 10:31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Colossians 1:29
Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

John 15:4-5
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Abide by His Word and all that it implies.

Why the Fruit of the Spirit will not come unto you...

Possessing a hard soul is caused by:

Friends that are worldly

Television shows and inappropriate reading materials

Worldly music

Pursuit of your own pleasure

Ambition

Unbelief

Worldly cares, worries and interests

Jealousness and materialism

If you avoid these things, you will start to notice that your life is a reflection of God's gracious spirit in your character, conduct and conversation.

Anyone that loves God will not willfully want to sin.
