Todd was brought into The Bill so that Eastenders fans would be attracted to the show. This was a big change for Todd. Instead of playing nice guy Mark Fowler and serving on the market stall, he was playing physcotic villan Gabriel Kent, and now serving at Sun Hill.

Gabriel came in just months after leaving Eastenders. We were all lead to believe he was a decent guy, but we watched him turn pyschotic and evil over two years. He started slow, beating up small time villans on the Estates.

He was very two faced, a physco to residents but a nice guy to most of his collegues, particularly PC Sheelagh Murphy, whom he had feelings for. They started a relationship shortly after his arrival at Sun Hill, while they didn't always get on they did make a nice couple.

One of the most shocking things about Gabriel was that that was not his real name!! The story is long and complicated...His real name was David Kent. Gabriel is his brothers name. Sgt June Acklund had a baby after she was raped aged 16, this was not common knowdlge at Sun Hill. She gave him up for adoption and was adopted by Davids parents where they renamed him Gabriel. One night, Gabriel wanted to look for his real mother and ran away from home. His parents chased after him, but got into a car crash and died. David blamed Gabriel for the death and hated him afterwards. Gabriel later moved to America, and David was left alone....

Somehow he found out who Gabriels real mother was and tracked her down at Sun Hill, desperate to get his revenge. Using some dodgy paperwork he got the office to think his name was Gabriel. He trained to be a policeman and joined the force where he tormented June, seducing her and eventually got her into bed!!! It was a short while later he told June that he was her son, she could not believe it. Sgt Smith found out from June what had happened but kept it quiet. June eventually found out that 'Gabriel' wasn't her son, but 'Gabriel' beat her and told her not to tell anyone he was an imposter. June agreed to keep quiet, because she knew how much of a physco he was. It was a story that would go on for the next 18 months...

And during that time, 'Gabriel' became worse...

He encouraged PC Kerry Young to believe that Smithy had daterapped her, even though he hadn't.

He battered Junes ex husband-Jimmy Carver unconcious with a bottle.

He raped PC Kerry Young, getting her pregnant. She threatened to report him, but he used his Sniper Accomplice to shoot her.

And shortley after that, he threw the Sun Hill sniper off a roof, so he could protect himself from being found out.

Bullied Kerrys boyfriend Cameron, even convincing him that he had raped her by accident.

Undercover Policewoman Andrea Dunbar found out Gabriels real identity, but before she could bring him down, she was caught in the Sun Hill explosion. Gabriel could have saved her, but he left her to die in the fire.

Eventually, time had run out for 'Gabriel' when his brother (the real Gabriel) turned up at Sun Hill looking for June, it was on that fateful day when a deranged Dad who had lost his sun held staff hostage with a gun, the real Gabriel was shot and slipped into a coma. Before anyone had been able to rescue him, the imposter Gabriel took his wallet so he would have no identity. A week later, he tried to kill him in an ingenious away. At the hospital, he turned on the fire alarm so everyone would leave the building. He went to his brothers room, where he placed a pillow over his head to stop him breathing, then he turned the heart monitor back on, to make it look like he died naturally. It didnt work...Doctors managed to recover him, and things were getting worse...

Earlier in the day, Sheelagh discovered Gabriels real identiy. The newlly enagaged couple were about to hit Rock Bottom.

Gabriel wouldnt let Sheelagh leave, and slapped her across the face, before tying her up and dumping her in his bedroom. He left his house and returned to the police station as if everything was normal. He did not know that Sgt Smith, Sgt Acklund and PC Bryant knew what was going on. PC Bryant along with PC Stamp broke into Gabriels house later in the day to rescue Sheelagh, meanwhile 'Gabriel' and June had gone to a disturbance call at a block of flats. After hearing a girl cry about her mother being dead and her stepmother being a bitch to her and threatning to kill herself, Gabriel looked out of the window and saw the police cars swarming round, he knew his game was up. He turned completly physco, first showing no sympathy towars the girl, drinking vodka and then taking June up to the roof.

He told June all the crimes he had commited and was ready to throw her off the roof so she could pay for what she did. But Sgt Smith arrived to save her, where he and 'Gabriel' had a fight, a viscious fight, which Gabriel won and left Smithy lying. But he knew it was over, he climbed onto the railings and looked down, telling June 'See what you've done to me'.

And then he jumped off, to a massive plunge and a mighty crash at the bottom. David Kent was dead...

And so ends the life of another great The Bill villan. Todd played this role brilliantly, he was a truly great villan. Some people didnt like the character and thought it was impossible for somebody to get into the force under a false identity. But still, Todd acted the part brilliantly, I particularly enjoyed his final episode where he turned completly physco. RIP David Kent.
