I am a passoniate person who cares about the world and ALL of its inhabitants. Many people seem to be able to look the other way when something comes to their attention that they find disturbing, I am not this person. I was unaware until a few months ago that our Animal Shelter (which is a fairly new facility) has been using the carbon monoxide chamber to kill stray animals. When I first found this out I was outragged, and I new that something had to be done. I decided that awarness is key to solving this problem. The public has to get involved and tell the Sheriff's Department (who runs the shelter) that they need to make a change. Not only the gassing of the animals, but they need to put someone in charge who has the animals welfare as a priority, someone who can focus on adoption and prevention programs, to find these animals homes and keep them from excessive breeding. The Sheriff's Department is not doing their part in helping out these animals. It is very difficult to find the adoption site for the shelter online, and when I was asking people about this topic, many was unaware that we had a shelter to begin with. This is unacceptable, no wonder why 30 dogs and cats, sometimes 80 are put to death daily in this county.
I am hoping that more will join this movement and I will updating information as I recieve it. This site has just been created and I promise that there is much more to come. Check in and look around the community and you too can join the movement to make these practices a part of our history.
