2008 Oklahoma Flute Festival

Flute Festival a wonderful success!

The 2nd Annual Oklahoma Flute Festival was a great time with performers, artisans, teachers, and visitors from all over the world.  We had visitors from England, Canada, Alaska and Belgium.  The Saturday evening concert was a packed house with over 150+ people in attendence and raised over $300 for the TNAFC in donations toward future programs.  The setting of the NSU Jazz Lab was fantastic for our three wondeful performers, Morgan Fawcett, Michael Graham Allen, and Jan Seiden  who captured their audiences musical attention. We are very grateful for everyone who attended both the festival and Saturday evening concert. Thank you to the amazing  performers, artisans and workshop teachers for making this years festival a blast!  We especially would like to thank all the volunteers without whom we could not have made the festival a success.  Also, last but not least, thank you so much to all of our supporters for your efforts and enthusiasm for the festival and the TNAFC.  Your contributions make a world of difference in keeping the spirit of the group and festival going and we are always grateful!  Thank You!

Photos of the event are available at:  www.okfutefest.com.  Photos are currently being added and more to come so please keep check back!

OUR WEBSITE HAS A NEW LOOK!

Well, it was about that time... you know the time to freshen up the look of a website.  We wanted to make the website easier to navigate and add a few more photos of the group.  The TNAFC newsletter is no more, and will now be making its (hopefully) monthly appearance on our new Circle Reviews page!  On the reviews page you can also find all of our past flute circle reviews.  The website is still being tweaked, but is taking shape.  We hope you like our new look for the New Year and look forward to seeing you at a meeting or conversing with you online!

TNAFC MEMBERS PERFORM GREAT FOR 2ND ANNUAL HOLIDAY ART SHOW 2007

      Jim Sinclair                                                 Joyce Barnes

Jim Sinclair and Joyce Barnes of the Tahlequah Native American Flute Circle at the Cherokee Heritage Center gave a wonderful performance at the 2nd Annual Holiday Art Show at the Tahlequah Municipal Armory in down town Tahlequah, OK over the Cherokee National Holiday (Labor Day Weekend).  Their performance was part of the awards ceremony opening for many great Native American artisans in the show.  After the awards ceremony Jim and Joyce provided Native American flute music for the many patrons enjoying the show.  Jim and Joyce performed on their own handmade flutes.  Jim's incredible walking stick flute with wood burning was such an eye catcher it had many of the partons of the show coming to get a closer look.  After a few duets, solos, great conversations with the show patrons, and too much punch they called it a night!

The Tahlequah Native American Flute Circle would like to sincerely thank Travis Owens, Tourism Coordinator of the Cherokee Nation and Traci Clark for putting together a wonderful show and inviting the TNAFC to perform!  Wado For more information on Cherokee Nation travel and the  2nd Annual Holiday Art Showplease check out: www.cherokeenationtravel.com
