Beautiful poetry with nice imagery and poetic devices. Well-written and very emotional. Makes me want to go back to my poetry after a dry spell of ideas.

"Fireflies, Moonlight and All That Jazz" is a compilation of short poems written
by Tammy Lynn Whisman. In this book, she uses vivid descriptions which allow the
reader to share some of her deepest thoughts and experiences. She quickly
captured my attention and many of her poems, especially those centered on events
such as sunrises and changes of seasons, left me with reminders of the peace and
beauty that exist in nature. Several of the other entries concentrated on
passions – passion that exists in romantic relationships, as well as passion
needed to help strive toward and achieve one's goals. I was impressed with how
she can say so much with so few words.

This book will appeal mainly to females, but males who have a sensitive side
will enjoy it also. "Fireflies, Moonlight and All That Jazz" is an excellent
choice for anyone who has had a stressful day and needs to relax. The short
length of each entry allows the reader to reflect on the poem's meaning without
becoming lost in too many details. This would be good to read right before going
to sleep or even while soaking in the bathtub. It will bring a sense of
tranquility to assist in forgetting the stressors of the day.

Overall, "Fireflies, Moonlight and All That Jazz" is a truly inspirational book.
Whisman shares her views on a variety of everyday subjects and leaves the reader
feeling peaceful and calm. By baring her soul, she challenges the reader to
search his or her heart to recollect past experiences that resulted in deep
emotions -- whether painful or joyful.

She helps the readers to recognize events that stir their feelings and awakens
their hearts to the beauty and joy present all around them. By doing this,
people will able to concentrate more on the positive aspects of life and realize
their passions.

Ms. Whisman's creativity composes words that delight, enhance and bring relaxation. With a compilation of works, she pens some wonderful sensations that branch out from the heart just as the changing of the seasons. With poetry that rhymes almost like a tune, she gives the reader diverse stages of emotions as she recollects expressions of love, things that happen during the day or when night settles in and creates fondness and warmth that flows smoothly. This collection and some of Ms. Whisman’s Haiku Corner blends a wonderful assortment for just about anyone. Ms. Whisman takes her own life and composes honest and frank language that touches her spirit as she reaches out and speaks of many facets dealing with nature. Often reading the ones about the crickets, the sounds could almost be heard. The expressions are so colorful that it is hard to choose one favorite, as they all seem to stand out in their own way. Then again, there were some that required a second reading, the intensity of the verse really flows. A beautiful cache of poems that find a way to the heart can practically be envisaged in Fireflies, Moonlight and All That Jazz. Each one carries a tune of its own as it transports the reader into a momentum leaving a warm feeling. I know it did for this reader. There were some that I enjoyed reading more than a second time. Wistful, Twinkling Ballet, Two Hearts, Hush and Without were some that really stood out to me. Ms. Whisman shares words that stem from her heart and this reader could tell that in each reflection she brought to life. She brings love to the pages in a splendid way. I enjoyed how she posed the poems in rhythmic verse that spun an interesting ingenuity.

Fireflies, Moonlight And All That Jazz

by Tammy Lynn Whisman

Rated 5 STARS

Fireflies, Moonlight And All That Jazz is a book of love in verse. Not the poetry of rhyming verse, but poetry that flows off the tongue touching the heart and mind with its afterglow.

There were four poems in this book that had rhyming phrase, and as the others, each poem spoke of the authors feelings and emotions. I found this book light and airy as its title, like fireflies dancing on the winds of a summers day and the nights kissed in the moonlight.

The author did well and has a book to be proud of. Thank you, Tammy, for a relaxing evening curled up with your book.

Tammy Lynn Whisman has expressed all feelings and emotions in her book of beautiful poetic verse called, Fireflies, Moonlight and all that Jazz.

She writes in such a beautiful way that touches the desires of the human spirit as well as the life of nature. She has a very good connection to that which she wants to write about and it is evident in her rythmic verse. Very nice poetry and very well written.

Her poem titled Without is one of my favorites

Creation without inspiration;
bland

A song without melody;
flat

A bird without wings;
grounded

A heart without soul;
hollow

A fish without water;
drowns

A smile without spark;
dull

Words without meaning;
babble

Life without love;
empty

4 star - Emotions of The Heart - 2006-08-31
This collection of magical poetry describes beautifully, emotions of the heart under constant changing skies.

Tammy's poetry is composed word by word like a melody. I found each poem to converse on a different level from reminiscing

of love, to love itself, to expressions of affection within daily events, to settling at the close of day within oneself.

This collection of poetry expanded my own personal growth as Tammy writes with honesty and language of true identity.

It would be difficult to choose a favourite of this collection as each poem I totally enjoyed reading.

“Fireflies, Moonlight And All The Jazz:  A  metrical collection of words.

Whereas I recognize the deepness of this author’s written thoughts, I found it a bit encrypted and somewhat hard to follow. It’s not your typical poetry. It has uniqueness in its meaning, though with some of the verses, I had to ask what that meaning was. However, I was impressed with lyrical expression this book possesses.  Good for those seeking words in a mystical form.
