An approved Adoption Application is required for all of our adoptable animals.

Once you have completely filled out our adoption application, please submit it via email , fax (518-891-1553), or postal mail, to begin the review process.
The review process generally takes 24 - 48 hours. During this time, our staff will contact your veterinarian for a reference. This is done as soon as possible, and depends entirely on your veterinarian's open calling hours. The staff will also use this time to contact your landlord, parent/family member, or property owner, to gain permission for you to adopt the pet you have applied for.
The Shelter Manager will review the application and will make the final approval for adoption. If there are concerns, the Adoption Committee may meet to review an application.
If you are looking to adopt a dog, you will be allowed to take the dog on a Day Visit once your application has been approved.
