A NIGHT OF UNFORGETTABLE TRAGEDY, the Titanic, the world's largest liner on its maiden voyage, struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic at 11:40pm, and sunk at 2:20am, the following morning.  Over 1500 people died.  Whose fault was it, and how did the crew and 2200 passengers react, has been a subject of dispute ever since the first news of the disaster broke

.Nearly a century later, the tragic tale of the Titanic continues to captivat the imagination.  So many myths and tales have risen from history's most famous maritime disaster it can be difficult to show fiction from fact. 

All the conclusions on the Titanic are either plainly wrong or highly debatable.  The disaster was not caused by arrogance, greed, or reckless speed and would not have been adverted by provision of more lifeboats.

Carpathia reached Titanic's position at daybreak.  Found the boats and wreckage only. Titanic sank about 2:20 am in 41.16N; 50.14 W.  Al her boats accounted for, containing about 675 souls saved, crew, passengers included.  Nearly all save women and children.  Leyland Liner Californian remained and searching exact position of disaster.  Loss likely total 1800 souls
