Tingira Park Rabbits

Hello and welcome to the Tingira Park Stud website.

We are breeders of beautiful English Angoras and Polish Rabbits.

We have been breeding English Angoras and Cashmere Lops for since 1994 and just recently introduced German Angoras and Polish.  We currently breed and show English Angoras and Polish rabbits.

Our goal is to dedicate ourselves to the breeding of show quality rabbits with sweet, docile temperaments.

You may ask what made us get involved in rabbits.

We were walking past the local pet shop, when a beautiful rabbit caught our eye.
I had never seen anything like it before. When I asked what breed it was, I was told that it was an English Angora.

Needless to say Peter rabbit came home with us. After a few weeks at home we found we were having trouble grooming him. I made many phone calls, trying to find out more about the breed. I was finally put onto a pet shop in St. Ives (a Sydney suburb) and the lady I talked to told me to contact the Rabbit Fanciers Society.   I spoke to Catherine who was very helpful and suggested we brought Peter along to their next show.

Rebecca, Peter and I went off to the next show. The people we met at the show were so helpful so gained a lot of information at our first show and made some great friends. To date we have been going to shows on a monthly basis, including the Royal Easter Show (Royal Agricultural Society) and are members of the Rabbit Fanciers Society.

Not long after Peters purchase my brother and wife bought Rebecca a Cashmere Lop for her birthday. Realising that we could not breed the two different breeds together, we rang around trying to find partners for both our rabbits. Shortly after we found Benjamin. Benjamin and Sweet Pea went on to have many litters.  One of their daughters Kammah now holds Grand Champion status.  Sweet Pea passed away from old age.

Poor Peter had to wait. Tallulah came along about eight months later. Tallulah and Peter produced many beautiful babies and Tallulah also held Triple Supreme Championship status.  Unfortunately we lost Peter in 1998 with a stroke due to hot weather and we lost Tallulah this year due to old age, 8 ½ years is not bad.

Recently we introduced Polish bunnies to our rabbitry.  We have REW, Black and Agouti.  Hopefully they will start breeding soon.

We still have the beautiful English Angora in Smoke, REW and Chinchilla.

As you can see our little purchase a few years ago sure has developed into a growing concern.
