CAREER SUMMARY

A project management leader with extensive knowledge in an automotive tier one supplier environment with supplier-based management. Strong background in the procurement of machine tool commodity using lean manufacturing  principles for new model transmission programs.  Highly qualified in interfacing with tier one supplier in communicating the end user requirements for commodity delivery, timing, cost, and quality expectations including the integration of new technologies. Excellent communication skills in dealing with the Tier one supply base, both written and oral to include electronic presentations.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

FORD MOTOR COMPANY, Livonia, MI                                                     1995-2006

Automatic Transmission Operations, Staff / Division Operations, Supporting Global Plants.

Project Leader Manufacturing Engineer A, New Model Transmission Programs

Project Leader for the design, build, and runoff of tier one machine tool applications for the final assembly processes. Machine tool builds were for the 2005 new model rear wheel drive transmission program.

·       Implemented lean manufacturing principles in design, development, and deployment of a common electronic controls theme for all PC based CNC and PLC applications leveraging one supplier for all applications.

·      Provided common platforms for all assembly applications, which increased productivity and throughput as machine troubleshooting time was reduced by 50%.

Co-Champion Electronic Controls Web Site

Assisted in the design, development, and the implementation of web-based electrical / controls web site to include machine tool purchasing standards for tier one suppliers when quoting machine tool builds.

·       Worked closely with the IT organization to integrate the controls web site into the Ford Intranet.

·      Assisted in the development of web site links to assist tier one suppliers to quote, design, and build to required specifications.

·      Significantly improved machine tool procurement delivery time.

Lead Engineer Power Distribution

Provided assistance in power distribution installations at the plant level. Technical assistance was provided to plant engineering personnel in required power distribution upgrades.

  • Implemented a power distribution strategy for all tier one suppliers. Strategy included calculations for determining machine ampacity loads and hardware required. Correctly sizing machine loads resulted in approximate savings of $40,000 per new model program.

New Technologies Integration

Co-Championed SI software safety integration for use in PC based CNC / PLC applications on the factory floor.

  • Engineered the implementation of SI across all new model programs. SI eliminated costly multiple commodities e.g., safety relays and safety interlock hardware. Cost avoidance was realized at approximately $400 per machine tool purchase.

Championed Global 8D and FMEA Campaigns

Global 8D and FMEA analysis was implemented to reduce electrical control failures and reduce machine tool process complexity.

  • Implementation of lean manufacturing and analytical tools assisted in identifying misapplication of electronic hardware by identifying more appropriated applications, reducing machine control complexity and improving machine productivity resulting in substantial cost saving.

Lead Engineer for Material Part Specifications

Data driven R&M process was used to implement critical spare commodities for Global Transmission Operations in supporting plant machine tool applications.

·       Spearheaded an aggressive campaign for different plant operations to share and procure duplicate commodities. By specking duplicate commodities, part inventory was reduced by 30% - 50%.

FORD MOTOR COMPANY, Livonia, MI                                                             1984-1995

Livonia Transmission Plant, Supplier Automatic Transmissions to Vehicle Operations.

Controls Engineer B, Livonia Transmission Plant

Project Leader in the design and development of an electronic lab facility to support manufacturing machine tool applications on the plant floor.

  • Provided electronic CNC / PLC Analog / Digital drive hot racks to support plant operations during critical machine tool downtime.
  • Provided in house electronic module repair. Cost avoidance approximating $120,000 annual.

Lead Controls Engineer B, Process Complexity Reduction

Lead a team of engineers and skilled technicians in identifying process bottlenecks on a major machining transfer line.

·       Converted high failure rate motor and gear box turnaround station applications with less complex and costly hydraulic units.

·       High efficiency fluid power hydraulic units provided added uptime and reduced hardware costs recognized at $115,000 annual.

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS, INCORPORATED, Sherman, TX                                   1982-1984

Manufacturer of Integrated circuits supplied to the military.

Process Engineer

Process Engineering responsibilities for the failure analysis of integrated circuits during management quality reviews.

·       Responsibilities included the root cause and prevent occurrence of failures at the multiprobe level.

·       Analytical tools were adopted to identify failures and implement best practices to prevent occurrence.
