“Tims 92” – so what exactly is it?

For those who share the same passion for football grounds, then I’m sure you will instantly recognise the reference to the 92 Football League grounds, and you’d be correct in doing so.

The site was started in 2004 as a way to keep a chart and reference of where I’d been on my attempt to join the ’92 Club’. Having been bought up as a Wolves fan, then my early experiences of football were at Molineux in an era when the ground was being transformed from a depressing eyesore into one of the most impressive of the early post-Taylor Report redevelopments. Perhaps this was an early inspiration for a fascination with grounds which went from the occasional away trip to the several hundred mile journeys for games involving two neutral sides with no affiliation for anything other than seeing the ground, or maybe it was just coincidental!

Whichever way, as the journey started to grow, and my collection of pictures and reviews built up, then I wanted to somewhere to store them, and here it is. The site isn’t meant as a guide to the 92 clubs, but very much a personal journey around the country and beyond, as my interest mushroomed from just the 92 to non-league and Scottish/Welsh grounds, not to mention those abroad. It’s even helped me discover and enjoy a whole different sport in the form of Rugby League, which has many outstanding venues which are as fascinating as those in football, so I hope you enjoy the collection and perhaps like other sites have done for me, it might inspire you to complete the 92 yourself one day.

Tim.
