RESULTS FOR SMACKDOWN! THURSDAY 17th FEBRUARY
Rise Up by Drowning Pool echoes throughout the arena as the SmackDown! opening video falshes up on the Titantron. Immediately the fans jump to their feet, letting out a deafening cheer. Once the video and music end, multiple pyros explode from the stage followed by more around the Titantron screen leaving a trail along as it continued its journey to above the ring, where one final pyro explodes and the lights in the arena all come on fully.
The camera pans around the excited crowd, many of them holding signs of all colours and shapes supporting their favourtes, and insulting their least favourites. Finally the camera pans to Michael Cole and Tazz at the announcers table.
Michael Cole: Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to SmackDown! The fans here on on their feet at the sold-out Gund Arena, in Cleaveland, Ohio.
Tazz: These fans are pumped Cole, and why shouldn't they be, tonight's show is going to be red hot!
Michael Cole: I agree with you partner, we will crown the first ever THW Televsion Champion here tonight in a Burning Table Match, seeing Gavin Hynes in his first match against Rocker who has been on quite a roll lately. Only last week Rocker was impressing all of these fans in a United States Championship tournament.
Tazz: Damn right girl-pants, but the winner of that tournament, Batista, is also scheduled in a match tonight. He will go one-on-one with Matt Hardy, for the United States Title in a Steel Cage-Ladder Match. Both men will start inside of the steel cage, the United States Championship will be suspended above, the only way to get to the Title will be for one of the men to leave the cage via a door in the cage to retrieve the ladder waiting outside. Once the ladder has been brought into the ring, the door will be completely locked. Meaning, the winner must climb the ladder to retrieve the belt and climb over the cage to the outside.
Michael Cole: That match can only end after the ladder has been brought into the ring to retrieve the belt, and the winner is the man who climbs out and over the cage with the United States Championship.
Tazz: Hey, didn't I just say that blondie?
Michael Cole: Don't forget your favourite match tonight Tazz. Victoria versus Torrie Wilson in a School Girl Match. Normal match rules apply but both competitors will be dressed in School Girl outfits. Maybe not as brutal and extreme as our other matches tonight Tazz, but still another stroke of genius from General manager Chris Jericho.
Tazz: Well in my whole wrestling career I can honestly say I've never competed in a School Girl Match, I can't say the same for you Cole.
Michael Cole: Oh shut up! But our main event tonight is going to be for the THW Championship. Chris Jericho vacated the title recently after suffering career-threatening injuries in his ladder match last week. But this week Jericho has completely healed but has still decided not to compete for the title, or even any matches this week, he's focussing on his GM duties, and what a great job he's doing.
Tazz: Stop sucking up to the GM Cole.
Michael Cole: Hey, he pays our cheques.
Tazz: As I was saying, Chris Jericho is a legend in this industry. Just carry on with the Main Event tonight.
Michael Cole: Tonight in the Elimination Chamber Match six Superstars will compete for the THW Championship. This last week Jericho had chosen these six Superstars on their achievements throughout their THW careers, and also for a few, their actions this past week. Those six superstars are, Pegasus, Batista, Rocker, JBL, Matt Hardy and Victoria.
Tazz: An amazing line-up but Victoria? I mean we've seen her intensity, and it was only a few days ago that we saw Victoria Spear pegasus to the ground. She's definately tough enough to fight the male Superstars, but in an Elimination Chamber? That match is designed to punish!
Michael Cole: Well that's our line-up of matches tonight, so let's get this show started.
With that said Theodore R. Long climbs into the ring with a microphone, looking suprisingly fine for a man who recently had neck surgery.
- MATCH 1 - ROCKER vs GAVIN HYNES - BURNING TABLE MATCH (THW TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP) -
Teddy Long: Ladies and Gentlemen, the following is the Burning Table Match and is for the THW Television Championship.
The bell rings as Rocker's music hits. Rocker rushes out and down the ramp, sliding into the ring.
Not long after, Gavin Hynes music hits as he struts out onto the stage. The crowd all boo at the rookie making his debut, some fans even try throwing things at him and swinging punches from the crowd, but luckily the THW security is able to handle it. Eventually Gavin enters the ring, as backstage hands bring out the equipment for the match.
Two guys are carrying a 3 tables stacked together, with a larger man shouting at them carrying a fire extinguisher. You can here the man shouting at the two to hurry up.
Crew Member: Martin, James put those tables down over there...James go get the gasoline..Martin get your ass back there and find those goddamn lighters.
Martin & James: Yes, Lew!
Moments later, three tables are set up on different sides of the ring, the only side there is no table is the side with the announcer's tables. On top of Michael Cole and Tazz's table is a line of about 10 multi-coloured lighters, and 5 boxes of matches. In front of the same table is the can of gasoline and the fire extinguisher.
Inside the ring Rocker and Gavin have been searched by the referee and watching the crew members set up for their match. Then the referee signals to the time-keeper, who then rings the bel for a second time starting the match officially.
Immediately the two men charge at each other and grapple in the middle of the ring. They then procede to test their strength and push each other. Rocker quickly gets the upper hand as he easily pushes Gavin into the corner as the fans cheer wildly.
Tazz: Wow, these fans really hate this guy!
Michael Cole: After seeing him the last few weeks I'm not a big fan either, COME ON ROCKER!
Tazz: SIT DOWN YOU IDIOT!
Back in the ring, Rocker has started delivering chops across the bare chest of Gavin. After each chop the fans let out a loud 'WOOOO'. Rocker raises his arms to the crowd who cheer even louder. Regaining himself Gavin seizes the chance and kicks as hard as he could right between Rocker's legs. The impact echoed around the suddenly silent arena as the force of the kick lifted Rocker off his feet...at that moment almost the entire male population of the crowd held themsleves in a look of worry and pain.
Gavin clotheslines Rocker to the ground and grabs his hair before bouncing Rocker's head repeatedly off the canvas. Gavin then goes to Rockers legs and sperates them before kicking Rocker in the groin once again, followed by a punch to the groin and then a headbutt to the groin. Gavin then picks Rocker up and tosses him over the ropes and crashing through a table at the side of the ring. Gavin then rolls out of the ring and goes to the announcer's table and picks up the can of gasoline and a box of matches, while Tazz restrains Michael Cole in his chair.
Gavin steps over Rocker who is lying in pain amongst wooden rubble. Gavin goes to the table at the very bottom of the rampway and pours gasoline over the table before trying to light a match. Eventually he finds one match that lights and before anyone knew it the table was covered in flames. Gavin rolls into the ring to find Rocker inside the ring crawling up the ropes.
The crowd boo like mad, as Gavin taunts to the crowd and Rocker raises himself using the ropes. Gavin spots Rocker on his feet and charges at him, but Rocker ducks his head and back body drops Gavin hynes over the top rope...however, the force of the move didn't only send Gavin to the outside but into the crowd.
Rocker collapses in a heap on the mat as the camera pans around to see Gavin Hynes getting the crap kicked out of his by surounding fans. ZSecurity is trying their hardest to push through the crowd, but it's far too late. Gavin is busted open and battered as the crowd raise him up above their heads and toss him crashing through the lonely non-burning table beside ring.
Rocker finally gets to his feet completely. He looks down and sees a battered Gavin Hynes lying amongst the table remains and starts laughing, he then turns and sees the table still on fire at the bottom of the ramp. Suddenly his smile turns to a evil smirk as he rolls under the bottom rope and picks up Gavin Hynes. Rocker drags Gavin up onto the ring apron feet away from the burning table. Rocker kicks Gavin in the mid-section and shioves his head between his legs. Rocker then jumps off the ring apron delivering a huge Ppiledriver through the table on fire. Quickly Rocker jumps up and pats out the fire on his ass as EMTs rush around with fire extinguishers putting out the table and Gavin Hynes.
The bell rings as Teddy long stands up with the microphone.
Teddy Long: The winner of this match and the NEW THW Television champion, Rocker!
Rocker is handed the belt and raises it in victory as the crowd give hima standing ovation.
Tazz: What a match, and what a way to end it...shades of ECW with that Piledriver off the ring apron, through the table...although I've never seen it done through a table on fire before tonight.
Michael Cole: Well I'm glad that Gavin Hynes got what he deserved...that no good son of a...
Tazz: HEY! Calm down Cole...hey, what's going on?
The Titantron changes to backstage and it shows Josh Matthews with a microphone standing in front of a door marked:
SmackDown! GM's Office
"Y2J" Chris Jericho
Josh politely knocks on the door...
Y2J: GO AWAY! I'M BUSY IN HERE!
Josh politely knocks again.
Josh Matthews: Mr. Jericho, sir, it's Josh Matthews we're here to get your thoughts about the last match.
Y2J: I didn't see the last match I was busy! GO AWAY!
Josh Matthews: But what about your open door policy?
Y2J: OH FINE OK!...Is there a towel out there?
Josh looks around and is handed a towel by passing crew member earlier recognised as Martin.
Josh Matthews: Thanks Martin, Mr. Jericho...I have a towel.
Y2J: WELL PASS IT THROUGH THE FUCKING DOOR!
Josh nearly craps himself as he opens the door about 2 inches and shioves the towels through...a minute later Jericho appears.
Y2J: OK Josh...go home! Yopu have the rest of the night off...never eeeeeever, interupt me again!
Josh hands Jericho the micrphone as he slowly walks off looking dejected. Jericho spots Martin the backstage hand.
Y2J: Here kid...you do the interviews...now get out of here...NOW!
The cameraman and Martin run down the corridor as Jericho stands there...before a voice comes from within the office.
Victoria: Chris...get back in here....
Jericho smiles and walks back in...OK...but don't wear yourself out before your match!
The Titantron changes to see Victoria's opponent, Torrie Wilson preparing herself in the make up chair. She is wearing pigtails, and a sexy little school girl outfit....but still not at her best with a large bandage on her head.
Torrie Wilson: Come on Candy! You think it's easy for me to be the sexiest woman on Earth? Then again what would you know about being wanted?
From behind the mirror, a stunningly attractive lady steps out and hands Torrie some make-up before Torie walks off.
Candy: What a bitch!
***COMMERCIAL BREAK***
- MATCH 2 - VICTORIA vs TORRIE WILSON - SCHOOLGIRL MATCH (THW WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP) -
"I aint the lady to mess with" is heard throughout the arena, many of the fans boo loudly as Victoria enters the arena, dressed in a tartan mini skirt, half buttoned white shirt and a black tie worn loosely, also looking quite flushed. Many of the fans raise their signs reading "Victoria + Y2J is it love?" "Leave the GM alone" "Victoria is a vixen"
Victoria gets into the ring and poses for photos.
Torrie Wilsons music hits the system and she comes out in a black mini skirt, blue shirt and white tie, she gets in the ring and stares at Victoria who is laughing at the large bandage across Torrie's head from a recent injury given to her by Victoria's Championship.
Victoria hands the Championship to the referee who holds it in the air showing the crowd, Torrie stares at it passionately. While torrie is busy looking at the Championship, Victoria runs and Spears Torrie to the ground.
Victoria stands above Torrie laughing, Torrie gets up and slaps Victoria hard knocking her to the ground. Torrie starts kicking Victoria in her stomach. Torrie then puts her foot on Victoria's throat, Torrie hold the ropes for leverage, the referee counts (1..2..3...4...) the ref grabs Torrie and holds her back.
Torrie gets past him and pulls Victoria up by her hair and throws her across the ring. She smiles at the clumps of dark hair twisted between her fingers and wipes her hands clean.
Victoria gets up holding the ropes and finds herself in the turnbuckle, Torrie notices and runs at Victoria who moves, sending Torrie crossbodying the turnbuckle. Victoria grabs Torrie from behind and gives her a belly to back suplex.
She picks Torrie up and sets her up for a powerbomb she raises Torrie and spins her around, she throws her halfway across the ring, in a move that looks as powerful as "the last ride".
Torrie is lying on the floor still as Victoria raises her into the "Widows Peak" and drops Torrie to the floor and covers (1..2...) Torrie kicks out!
Victoria jumps up angrily and starts to pull at Torrie's bandage thats wrapped around her wound. Victoria gets it off revealing a huge stiched up cut across Torrie's head, Victoria laughs and slaps it, Torrie screams and puts her face on the canvas holding it. Victoria sits on Torrie's backside. Torrie sits up forcing Victoria backwards into the referee sending him through the ropes to the floor.
Victoria gets out of the ring and smiles at the knocked out referee and searches under the apron. She comes out with a metre ruler, she holds it in one hand and slaps it into the other looking at Torrie, who crawls towards the other end of the ring.
Victoria quickly climbs into the ring and swings the ruler at Torrie's backside, Torrie screams and grabs her backside in pain, much to the pleasing of the male crowd. Victoria then raises the ruler and hits Torrie in the back sending Torrie's body into the canvas. Victoria throws the ruler out of the ring and prepares Torrie for another Widows Peak, she turns and sees the referee getting back into the ring and drops Torrie and goes for the cover (1..2..3)
The referee gives Victoria the belt and raises her arm.
Teddy Long: The winner of this match and STILL THW Womens Champion, Victoria?
Michael Cole: So Victoria retains her Womens Championship for the first time but how will she fair in the Elimination Chamber tonight?
Tazz: I dont fancy her chances in there Cole, shes tough but against five guys! She'd have to be really tough.
***COMMERCIAL BREAK***
- MATCH 3 - BATISTA vs MATT HARDY - STEEL CAGE-LADDER MATCH (THW U.S. CHAMPION) -
Michael Cole: Welcome back and now our next match for the United States Championship, Batista and Matt Hardy are already in the cage awaiting the bell.
Tazz: Pretty tough rules for what seems to be a pretty rough match.
Batista and Matt start grappling, Batista gets Matt in an abdominal stretch, Matt screams in pain and manages to unwrap his leg and take Batista down in a hip toss. Batista quickly gets to his feet and clotheslines Matt. Batista then goes towards the door to get the ladder.
Matt sees what he is doing and gets up and follows Batista out of the door, as Batista grabs the ladder Matt pushes Batista from behind sending Batista and the ladder into the floor the crowd boos loudly at the actions off Matt.
Matt pushes Batista off the ladder and grabs it himself to get it into the ring. Batista slowly gets to his feet and begins to follow Matt back into the ring.
As Matt begins to set up the ladder he gets an elbow in the back from Batista, Matt falls to the floor along with the ladder, both Matt and the ladder shoots to the other side of the ring hitting the cage.
Batista picks up Matt and sets him up for a Batista Bomb, it connects and Matt lies still on the floor.
Batista grabs the ladder and sets it up to grab the belt, he climbs the ladder and takes it from the swinging bar. The crowd jump up and cheer for Batista.
Matt starts to stir and sees Batista with the Championship, he slowly raises to his knees as Batista begins to climb the cage with the belt. Matt jumps up and grabs Batista's ankle. Batista tries to shake him off but he wont budge, Matt gives a final yank and pulls Batista down.
The Championship falls just after him and lands right in the middle of Batista's forhead knocking him senseless. Matt slowly gets to his feet and picks Batista up who is swaying uncontrolably. Matt sets Batista up for the Twist of Fate onto the Championship.
It connects and Batista is busted open. Matt grabs the Championship and climbs to the top of the cage, he throws the crowd the patented gun signal with his hands.
Batista slowly comes around to see Matt on top of the ladder and shakes the ladder and Matt loses his balance and falls back into the cage, but drops the Championship outside of the cage.
Matt is still in the middle of the ring, as Batista gets up swaying, bleeding prefusely from his head, he falls back hitting his head on the cage.
Matt begins to crawl unsteadily towdrds the ladder. He climbs it slowly and looks around to see Batista climbing the cage.
Matt gets to the top of the ladder and launches himself off the top of it, out of the cage, landing on the concrete outside the ring area, EMT's rush down to aid him as Batista sits on the top of the ring clutching his bloody head.
Michael Cole: That was definately the brutal match we were promsied, and in the end Matt Hardy, literally sacrificed himself for that Championship.
Tazz: I don't know what to say...we're going into our final commercial, when we come back we will have the Elimination Chamber for the THW Championship.
