Thunderhawk was a traditional country music band located in south central Pa. The band consisted of five musicians: Ron Cassel (lead vocals/rhythm guitar/pedal steel guitar), Billy Curtis (acoustic guitar / vocals), Darrell Troutman, AKA "Double Barrel Darrell"(bass guitar/sound/vocals), Chris Auxt (lead guitar/vocals) and Dave Rife (drums / percussion). The original Thunderhawk band was established in 1994 with Ron Cassel (lead singer/ rhythm guitar), Clem Toomey (lead guitar/ vocals), Bob Souders (bass guitar/ vocals), and Frank Kramer (drums). The song "THE COWBOY WAY" was written, composed and copywritten in 1997 by the members of Thunderhawk, including (Ron Cassel, Frank Kramer, Ed Fisher, (who passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 23,2007) and Clarence W.(Clem) Toomey Jr.,(who passed away due to cancer on July 24,2006). The song was recorded at "Studio 213" in Dillsburg Pa. by Al Cox. In July of 1997, The song was aired by radio announcer Ray Thomas,(FM-102, Carlisle, Pa.),the entire month. The song came in at "number one most requested song" for one week. Other musicians filled in when needed and were a part of Thunderhawk, including Denny Baker (lead guitar/ slide guitar/ keyboard/ vocals), Chad Salvaggio (drums/ vocals)Jack Books (drums), John Hawk (drums), Stillwater Rose (drums), Denny Collier (drums), Pete Netznik (lead guitar), Rich Kotzman (bass/ vocals)who Passed away due to cancer in 2003, Joe Mohn (drums), Dana Avaritt (drums), Dave Rife (drums), Jeff (Ffej) Herb (drums) and Joey Trautwein, who played drums for Thunderhawk and passed away due to cancer on Sept.9,2001.
