Educational Programs
The Thunderbirds are often called upon to give educational programs for local groups, schools, and businesses, which we do gladly!
Part of our goal as a group is to provide educational resources and programs for those who ask on various Native topics, including herb lore, stories and legends, lifestyle, culture, foods, and spirituality, among other things.
We have also collaborated with the Sister Cities group, and have given programs for representatives from Kai, Japan.
Most recently we participated in a "Teaching Day" with the Keokuk Area Tourism Bureau, giving a program on Native Dance, and providing educational materials for the Ilenewik Society for a program on the American Bison.
We have various resources available to us that we use in our programs, and we like to integrate a "hands on" policy for local children's groups and schools, believing that being able to see and touch something that Native people use in daily life makes those thins all the more real for a child.
