'And so the rain brings life'

 Who are we?

At Through the Rain we are a passionate group of survivors who have created a specialized message board for survivors of relationship violence. Our staff are survivors of relationship violence, who decided to create a small, intimate message board in hopes of creating a safe place for fellow survivors to come to.

Our goal is to create a secure environment for survivors to come to receive survivor to survivor support and understanding. We hope you'll decide to join our community by registering. Only registered members are able to view the full board, start topics and post replies. We have changed our policy so that members can now validate themselves rather then have to wait for administration to validate them. However, we feel that this change will not make Through the Rain unsafe!

We believe that the rain brings life. Although we've suffered or are suffering through a terrible situation, after the rain, life begins to grow again, just as we begin to grow and evolve again as people.

We hope to help you to move safely through the rain.

 Our Inspiration

Each and every survivor that was apart of creating this message board, were first acquainted at a place that, for many of us, has been a safe haven and a savior: Pandora's Aquarium, a message board for survivors of  rape and sexual abuse. Pandora's Aquarium is what inspired us to created a specialized message board for survivors of relationship violence. Pandora's Aquarium is a moderated support group and online message board that has over 5,000 registered members. Although it was only part of our inspiration, it was a big part. Pandy's (as we have nick-named it) is a wonderful, caring and supportive community, and remains the largest message board of it's kind. You can visit Pandy's by clicking here.

We were also inspired by our fellow survivors. We realized that survivors, no matter what, have endless words of support and courage to offer one another. We know that the healing journey is a long and difficult one, but we are not alone, and together, we can heal.

What does 'Through the Rain” ' have to offer?

Through the Rain offers a forum that is specifically created for survivors of relationship violence. While we welcome all survivors of any type of abuse to join, our target is to create a specially designed message-board for those who are healing, or are still going through some sort of violence within a relationship. We hope to maintain a small, intimate board that offers survivor to survivor support and specific coping skills and techniques for survivors of relationship violence. Our board has been in the making for quite a while now, and has only recently opened to the public. This was to ensure that our board was as safe and well running as possible. We are dedicated to making sure our members are as safe and comfortable as we can make them.

We hope to provide more specific and direct healing paths for survivors of relationship violence.

Surviving through abuse at the hands of someone you care for is never easy, and we understand. By joining, you will be surrounding yourself with others who understand the pain of relationship violence.

Who belongs here?

Anyone that has suffered through any type of violence at the hands of a partner belongs here. Any survivor of any type of abuse belongs here as well, although our board is specifically designed to help those in violent intimate relationships.

We welcome ALL survivors here and supporters of survivors here. We have a detailed list of links to other websites and message boards that many people may find helpful.

Registering is the first step to healing. You are not alone, and you do not have to go through this alone. We can help you, through the rain.
