The book Sunset was filled with twists, spiraling us into a world of Warriors unlike we have seen before. This novel displayed elements we have never seen in the other books- dark prisons unescapable, a world where cats only have their own thoughts, and even a powerful and ominous magic. The prolouge opens in a place only referred to as 'The Dark Forest,' where cats, unable to enter Starclan's ranks, are sent upon their demise. The have no contact with other cats as they wonder the lonely forest. Who created this dark prison? Surely not the cats of the Dark Forest themselves- so perhaps Starclan. So how could these cats, so noble and inexorable in their loyalty, create such a dark place? I must admit that by the end of the prolouge, I felt bad for Darkstripe, no matter what crimes he commited. Why don't Starclan feel any mercy on theis matter? Starclan's faces have been cast in shadows if they have never attempted to break this prison. There is a fine line between 'evil' and 'vulnerable.' At a young age Darkstripe fell victim of Tigerclaw's cruel thinking, and was eventually pulled into a world where only Tigerclaw's words made sense. Upon Tigerclaw's demise Darkstripe didn't know what to do with himself- except attempt to kill. Because of Tigerstar's horrid and demanding mind that twisted an apprentice at a young age, Darkstripe was murdered in defense.
The 'magic' I mentioned before was referring to Cinderpelt. Her rebirth was a shocking twist; displaying the strength of Starclan's power. But, perhaps, if the cats of Starclan can make rebirth a reality, maybe Tigerstar could do the same.
