After the separation of Big Wreck in 2002, Ian Thornley returned to his home town Toronto, Canada.
Given his penchant for making music and not one to sit idle it was upon Ian's return to Canada that he then played as a session musician on albums by Nickelback, Sarah Harmer and Stephen Fearing before launching in 2003 his new band, appropriately called Thornley.
Thornley was signed onto Chad Kroeger's 604 Records (Nickleback) who oddly enough used to open for Ian's earlier band Big Wreck. THORNLEY in its earliest inception was comprised of Ian Thornley (lead guitar and vocals) Tavis Stanley on guitar, Ken Tizzard ("The Worm" ex The Watchmen) on bass, and Sekou Lumumba (formerly of Edwin & The Pressure, Jully Black) on drums. This quartet hit the road together long before Thornley’s debut, Come Again, was released in 2004. They toured extensively across Canada and through the US shaking the dust of the rafters of many a venue until Oct 2005 where they blew the roof off of a sold out and rascous club in Oshawa in what they knew was to be their final show together.
"One of the things I love most about music is sharing it with other people." - Ian Thornley from Gerry Krochak Interview.
In testimony to this Ian wasted no time in acquiring 2 new members. Eric Paul on drums ( "Speedstick" - Big Sugar, Allanah Myles) and Cale Gontier on bass (from the 3 Days Grace camp).
This hard working and revamped version of Thornley has continued to rock the fans coast to coast with their stellar live performances.http://www.myspace.com/thornleymusic
