Tara's Grammy Moment

2008 My Grammy Moment

What a whirlwind experience this Grammy Moment event has been!!

I know many family members and friends are interested in seeing pictures and learning more about my whole experience, so I've created this site to share some of those things with you all.  It will sort of serve the purpose of a Photo/Video Journal Blog.

I think one of the coolest things about this all is the support I've received from friends, family, and even random people I haven't even met!  I've really enjoyed hearing from so many of you!!  All of the time you put in to vote and spread the word so all of your friends could vote too -- it all paid off!

You helped me get to the Final 3 and have a chance to not only perform live with the Foo Fighters at the Grammys, but also play a solo riff live on national television, in front of MILLIONS of people!!  I read that there were an estimated 17.5 million viewers this year!!  That just blows my mind.  Between that and the original YouTube clip, the exposure from this event has been phenomenal.  Honestly, it's a little creepy... but exciting too.

Well, I guess the appropriate place to start would be with the original audition clip, posted on YouTube on January 20th (just barely before the midnight deadline!).  The clip is of "The Pretender" by the Foo Fighters.  We were instructed to play the first 2 lines from the original melody, and then improvise on that melody for the remainder of the 60 second time limit.  Here's what I came up with:

From some several hundred submissions, 45 Quarter-Finalists were chosen by the Grammy panel and were posted on www.youtube.com/mygrammymoment Thursday night, January 24th.

This is where you all came in!  Emails and messages on Facebook and MySpace went flying out to as many people as possible, in an effort to spread the word and get as many people as possible voting.

On January 29th I got the exciting news that I was in the Top 15!  I was going to LA to play at the Grammys with the Foo's!!!
