Thistledowne Farm's Veggie Van

Hello Everyone !

We presently have a route in downtown FARMVILLE.  Remember, though, as we have to deal DIRECTLY WITH THE GROWERS, and other farm issues well as weather (which affects those farmers),  there may be a change in plans OR PRODUCT AVAILABILITY.  If "Mother Nature" has other ideas .... well, we all just have to go with it.

The whole idea behind this enterprise is :    S E A S O N A L.  The focus of our business IS to bring you local produce; LOCAL as in right here in central Virginia, not from California, Arizona or outside the United States.

When you buy from us you are also buying from your local farmers; helping them to hold onto a way of life that is vanishing quickly.

You are also eating good, clean (pesticide free) food and it is fresh. It has more nutrition than the products which have been picked a month (or more) ago, treated to keep it from spoiling, stored, then shipped here and stored again.

Lastly, we come to YOU.  This is for your convenience.  It may save you a stop after work or a trip to Richmond on the weekend.  With rising gas prices, why not take advantage of a delivery service such as ours?

We invite you to join us in the wonders of the season...... see what new things we have to offer! You may be able to find something you've never tried before -or- an item suitable to give as a gift.  We are working on new additions to our venture and you are all welcome to come along!

 VEGGIE VAN DELIVERY DAYS:  WEDNESDAY ONLY

With the start of our CSA  this year ('08), we will be running the van one day only at first.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET ON OUR WEDNESDAY ROUTE, please e-mail us so that we can see if we can fit it in. Presently we are doing downtown Farmville  ONLY and may have time to go slightly out of that section.

If you have specified a certain time, we will do our best to deliver at that approximate time.  Please keep in mind that there may occasionally be delays for many reasons and we really appreciate your patience!

WE SEND OUT E-MAILS ON MONDAY or EARLY TUESDAY MORNING to our customers with a list of what's on the van for the day. If you are on the end of our route, to make sure you get what you want, you NEED to place an e-mail so that we can set it aside for you.  Some of the items, which may be in limited supply, or a 'last minute add on' usually go fast.  We could be out of them by the time we reach your stop.

E-MAIL ORDERS MUST BE PLACED  no  later  than 8:00  a.m. on WEDNESDAY morning.  (see 'UPDATES' page) 

LARGE QUANTITY ORDERS:    Please e-mail us ahead of time, no later than 5 pm the previous Friday.

We're  NOT  Wal-Mart; we don't have a distribution center with trucks rolling in all the time.  This is just a very small scale operation. 

PAYMENT: Cash, check, credit card upon delivery. (sorry, we can't process debit cards on the truck)

Lastly, please keep in mind that we are a small operation and we TRULY APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE.

Yes, folks - there is a price to pay for this pesticide-free,  old fashioned, but good, healthy food.

It's called patience and understanding and we are grateful for yours....
