Important news for friends of The Veggie Van and the Farmville Farmer's Market

Our friend, Deb Naylor, who is a  beloved vendor at the Farmville Farmer's Market , was critically injured at her farm.  She suffered severe injuries to her arms, hands, legs and face as a result of an attack by sows in a pen when she got between piglets and their Mom. Because of the severity of her injuries, she was airlifted to VCU Medical Center Trauma Unit. Please see the page titled DEB NAYLOR FUND for more info on Deb's condition and how you can donate and help out.

Supporting  LOCAL FARMERS  Educating you about FOOD & Promoting  Earth-Conscious Living

WE WANT TO PROMOTE LOCAL AGRICULTURE and PRODUCERS,

SEASONAL PRODUCE

and

RAISE COMMUNITY AWARENESS of the SMALL FARMERS and THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA.

We also aim to educate the community on the benefits of eating good, 'clean' food that is produced without using chemicals or pesticides, hormones or antibiotics or GMOs.

This is not only OUR mission, but many, many other growers, both large and small across America, to make people aware of what they are eating -AND- to provide them with the most healthy food possible.

Also, BY SUPPORTING THESE LOCAL FARMS, you are helping them to continue and keeping revenue in the local area.

You are also buying food that is fresh from the farm, picked either that morning or the day before.  It hasn't been trucked across the United States -or- flown in from other countries.  This reduces the amount of fuel, packaging, as well as other resources needed for long-haul transport.

Another part of why we're here is to educate you about food, how to eat in a healthier way and reduce your impact on the Earth.  On our 'LINKS'  and 'ARTICLES' page information which we hope will raise your consciousness.  How our food is raised and processed does affect the environment, our bodies and our health.

Many may feel that the information presented herein is too radical -or- too political. If this takes you out of your comfort zone we apologize. It is the reality of the food industry.  We're here - to   educate, get you out of complacency so that you are more knowledgeable about food choices.  If YOU are better informed, then we may be able to get some of the procedures changed to benefit everybody....., all around the world!  As the CONSUMER, you have a terrific amount of power!  We CAN  make a change!

Thank you for visiting our site.

CHANGE CAN ONLY COME THROUGH US INTO THE WORLD.

Let's make the change!
