Margaret Moon won the Lancashire Excellence in Tourism Skills award for “Most Valuable Volunteer” at a ceremony at the Dunkhalgh Hotel nr
Margaret who lives in Kirkham is a volunteer at ILPH Penny Farm Horse Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre. Her duties include helping to run the visitors centre, showing visitors around the farm and promoting the work of the ILPH. Margaret is always willing to do anything she can to help out at the centre and her most recent task has been to make our Shetland pony ILPH Trudy a special Christmas Outfit for our Christmas Fun Day next month!!!
“Margaret is a real star – she has been a volunteer here since we opened in 2001 and we could not manage without her – her contribution is invaluable and I am really pleased that her commitment has been rewarded with this award” explains
The contribution of volunteers is all to often overlooked and Ranvir Singh from BBC North West News took time in her presentation speech to thank all volunteers and to explain how many businesses could not survive without their contributions. This is certainly true at Penny Farm which relies on volunteers to operate the visitors centre and show people round the farm which is open to the public every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
