This page is dedicated to everyone who helps to produce the product that is one of Mary Walsh's shows. This page is all about Mary Walsh's career and a little bit about where she's from.
Birthname: Mary Cynthia Walsh (Parents are Leo Walsh and Mary Dalton) Birthday: May 13, 1952 Birthplace: St.John's, Newfoundland
Mary Walsh was born catholic but has been non-practising since she was thirteen years old. She got pneumonia at a very young age causing her to move in with her Aunt May at the "non-damp" house next door. Her aunt was like a second mom as her father moved the rest of the Walsh family (7 kids, and 2 adults) to Conception Bay, Newfoundland when Mary was just eleven. She was the seventh of eight children in the family and not the only one to reach stardom. (I believe her brother Des Walsh is a director, and directed the mini-series Random Passage.)
She has recently starred in the hit movie "Mambo Italiano" as Lina Paventi, which made over $5.2 million at the box office. It has been the second greatest grossing movie in Canada since "Porky" hit theatres in the 1980's. Very soon her next movie titled "Piggy Bank Blues" based on the screenplay Les Belles Soeurs, will be coming out to Canadian theatres. In this movie she worked with Jane Curtin(3rd Rock From the Sun), Peter MacNeil(The Eleventh Hour), Patrick McKenna(The Red Green Show) and various other Canadian and American comedians. From what I have read so far it should be coming out this month (December) if not sometime inbetween winter and spring. Set to come out in theatres in 2004 she was a lead writer in the movie "Bailey's Millions" which is still in pre-preduction. Over the years she has been in many movies like Violet, Extraordinary Visitor, Secret Nation, The Adventures of Faustus Bidgood, Behind the Red Door, New Waterford Girl, etc.. She has been on the Mike Bullard Show, had her own Life & Times on the CBC, has been a star on This Hour has 22 Minutes, hosted her own book show called Mary Walsh: Open Book, and been a great supporter for Oxfam in Ethiopia, all before she even turned 51! She is a Canadian icon in my opinion and I feel she should have a star on Canada's Walk of Fame. If you agree with me then go to their website and fill out the nomination form saying "I WANT MARY WALSH FROM ST.JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND TO HAVE A STAR ON CANADA'S WALK OF FAME BECAUSE SHE IS A CANADIAN ICON AND HAS DONE MANY THINGS FOR OUR WONDERFUL COUNTRY."
