John Hutchinson

I'm John I am 51 years of age, live near Leeds in West Yorkshire.I am single, work as a civil servant for the British Library at Boston Spa where I have been since 1977.That seems like a lifetime and in many ways it is! The number of times people have said to me that I would have got less for murder..:-)

I have a number of outside interests.I am very actively involved in running a hospital radio station in Leeds.I have been involved with that sort of activity since the mid seventies as well and at the current station since 1981. I have been a regular presenter on the station in all that time, presenting a wide variety of programmes including oldies, country, requests and now easy listening.

I have served as secretary to the hospital radio station and in the past 12 months I have been also acting as Programme Controller, but I have now relinquished both of those positions so that I can focus on what I think I am best at which is presentation and training new presenters.I am currently presenting an easy listening programme between 7pm and 8pm on Wednesday evenings which I thoroughly enjoy doing.

I am a huge fan of sixties music, especially of the Merseybeat and harmony groups.Personal favourites include Gerry and The Pacemakers, The Searchers, The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Bachelors, The Symbols(fantastic underrated band) ,The Cowsills(inspiration for The Partridge Family), The Tremeloes  and many more.

Outside of music I enjoy watching what we refer to as "Cult TV",and have  been actively involved in helping to organise a number of conventions in this line over the past few years.I am just getting into Heroes, I am looking forward to the new series of Flash Gordon despite what I have just read in the Nov 2007 SFX Magazine because one of my favourite people Eric Johnson has the title role, I love Kyle XY, Charmed, Smallville etc etc and I am looking forward also to the start of Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles in January 2008.

At work, in addition to my full time job, I am also chair of the Sports and Social Club which involves running of the various aspects of the sports and social facilities we enjoy at work, and also means that as we are in the lead up to Christmas now, I am in the midst of a very busy period!!

i think that's me in a -rather large-nutshell so far.I look forward to plenty more happy years contributing to the zone website.
