Our Vision
We see a day when The Youth Mission Corps affiliate churches will reach so many Pierce County youths that local churches will have to sponsor a The Youth Mission Corps Event every month in order to capture them all for Jesus! This could mean that we will need to revisit almost every high school in Pierce County or South King County or North Thurston County each year!
Background
The Youth Mission Corps is a totally new ministry idea designed to meet the challenges of Northwest youths in Pierce, South King and North Thurston Counties. As you may know, Washington state ranks number two in America for the fewest people who attend church. This area is a wide open mission field in regard to bringing youth to Christ!
Many local churches are small and do not have the financial resources to sponsor huge evangelical events. It is a challenge that the body of Christ needs to meet head-on! The Youth Mission Corps fills this gap and provides high quality, fast paced evangelical events at no cost to local churches and no entrance fees to the youth! We operate completely through offerings and through the generosity of committed donors that have a vision for reaching teens for Christ!
There are a few large churches in the area that do a very fine job reaching families and provide very needed and crucial programs to reach and serve the youth. But even these churches are not able to reach the vast amount of teens who need to experience the love of Jesus Christ and discover hope for their lives. Hopefully these large churches will assist TYMC in helping the small church youth group grow.
God has given The Youth Mission Corps a vision to develop a ministry that will seek out lost youth and help aid local church youth groups attract youths to develop a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. The Youth Mission Corps seeks to serve area youth pastors by providing tools, facilities, and resources that will attract and develop youth for leadership and to serve our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Services
The Youth Mission Corps seeks to serve youth on four key fronts:
1) Multi-Church Big Evangelical Events Worship Band, Evangelical Speakers, Recognition of local Youth Leaders, Multi-Media, Invitation
2) Multi-Church Outreach Events Youth Worship and Seeker Rallies, Road Rally, Camporees, Dramas, Etc.
3) The Physiology of the Goal Seminars Personal Development Seminar Presented for Free to Area Schools by a Professional Personal Development SuccessCoach
4) The Awakening 7 Part Youth Discipleship Tremendous "go deeper" sessions designed to tear away at Satan's lies and release your youths to really hear God speak. It's absolutely awesome.
Ideally, The Youth Mission Corps will seek to sponsor a quality youth event somewhere in Pierce, South King and North Thurston counties each week! That's our Big Plan for the future. The Big Event would occur 3 to 4 times a years to begin with. When possible, The Youth Mission Corps would combine resources with other area youth organizations to sponsor some events. We are inspired by and model our ministry from Teen Mania of Acquire the Fire and also Dare2Share ministries.
We will offer other services and ministry as God reveals. The Youth Mission Corps maintains a flexible objective to best meet our changing community youth needs as God leads.
The Big Event
Competing with non-Christian activities has always been a challenge for churches with small youth group budgets. The idea behind The Big Event is to provide a big church, big budget type of activity for all area church youth groups to use to attract teens to the Lord and to capture them into their youth programs.
We use the time tested success formula of providing a good speaker, a good band, perhaps a good activity, and a lot of love to attract area youth. The Big Event conducted on a semiyearly to a quarterly basis could give area church youth groups the very edge they need to keep their youth interested and active in evangelizing their friends!
We seek to hold The Big Event in area churches usually surrounding a target high school and middle school. We do not feature or support any particular church or youth group during TYMC events. We seek to remove as many barriers as we can to better attract more youths to learn about Jesus.
The Bottom Line
Area youths are not automatically attracted to Christian youth groups. The thought of a loving and caring Christ is not the first thought to cross our young people's minds. Biblical absolutes have all but gone out the window. Within a couple of generations, we could lose our youth completely unless we step in and liberate them with the truth! Only 1 in 9 youth who currently attend a youth group currently will attend a church as an adult unless we do something about that RIGHT NOW!
There are a significant number of non-Christian activities that compete for the hearts and souls of our area youths. The Youth Mission Corps has an unprecedented opportunity to attract young people for the glory of Jesus Christ in the South King, North Thurston and Pierce Counties area and to break down ethnic barriers that prevent area churches from reaching ALL youth people groups for Christ.
This is uncharted territory, brothers and sisters. I believe God means for us to get off our duffs and just go ahead and just put His plan into action! That action requires your assistance. It requires participation from the church, participation from the Acts 1:8 church!
