OUR MISSION

The mission of Get the Word Out is to provide the LGBT* community with effective and responsible anti-violence support while promoting social acceptance of LGBT people on the Texas-Mexico border.

 *LGBT = Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (See Who We Serve page)

OUR ISSUES

We address the issues of violence that impact the LGBT communities of El Paso and Ciudad Juarez.  These issues include the following:

  • Harassment and bullying of LGBT Youth in Schools
  • Intimate partner violence in LGBT Relationships
  • Hate crimes based on sexual Orientation and gender identity
  • Commercial sexual exploitation & human trafficking
