Rosie the Riveter
Rosie the Riveter is a symbol for women workers in the America. She is a symbol for the women who were defense in the industries. At the time the men who did all the labor had to go to the military, so the women had to do everything. They also had to do somethings to help the men in the military. From 1940 to 1945 the number of women workers went up by 50 percent, from 12 million to 18 million. In the 1940, women constitued 8 percent of total women workers work in production of durable goods. By 1945, this number went up to 25 percent. Since the men were in war, the women did alot of things. They became street car conductors, taxi cab drivers, business managers, commercial airline checkers, aerodynamic engineers, and railroad workers. The women of WW2 also worked with machinery, streetcars, buses, cranes, and tractors. The women did alot of labor. The women also unloaded freight, built dirigibles and gliders, worked in lumber mills, and steel mills. The women of WW2 made munitions. They did all the things the men did before going off to the war.
