The Truth 4 Kids

Teachers

What is the deal with teachers? Some teachers are REALLY good and actually have interest in teaching and helping students learn. Others? Errr...not so much. Some teachers are just in it for the paycheck... Also, remember how the Government controls the schools? (Go back to The Real Deal About School for more info) Well, they also control what the teachers are allowed to teach. So, you might have a REALLY Good teacher, but you learn the same stuff (if anything) as you would with a bad teacher-just maybe more fun. The teacher might want to teach you something interesting, fun, or/and useful but it won't be allowed unless she wants to be fired. So, just think about that the next time your teacher starts droning on about the most irrelevant subject.

Good or Bad?

A few hints to tell if your teacher is a good teacher or a bad teacher.

 Good Teacher:

  •  Tries to make things fun/interesting.
  • When once in a while does projects, they think of creative things that everyone can do.
  • Rewards good behavior.
  • Lets you use the restroom.
  • Does not punish you over minor incidents (like getting up without "permission.")

 Examples/Ideas:

  • Let your students go to the bathroom whenever they need to. If you talk to the teacher first, it's simply to let the teacher know where you are -not for permission. If it's an emergency (such as extreme need to pee, about to throw up, etc.) then let them simply go and send a student to check on them.

Bad Teacher:

  •  Tries to control you.
  • Is mean.
  • Does not let you use the restroom.
  • Doesn't allow experimentation if in Science.
  • Demands only bookwork.
  • No interaction.
  • Punishes you over minor incidents (like getting up without "permission.")
  • Does not listen to suggestions and ignores questions.

If your teacher is a bad teacher, then try to talk to your teacher. Don't say stuff like, "You're boring" or "I hate your class." Try to be as polite and say, "Well it would be nice if we could have some interactive activities," or "Going to the bathroom is a bodily function and I don't want to hurt my body." If that doesn't work, try talking to a Guidance Counselor. Remember, just because you say something, doesn't necessarily mean he/she will change. Just stand up for yourself and don't let them boss you around!!!
