SPIRITUALITY

At Spirit Song Cultural, World Peace, and Healing Center, everything is centered around Spirituality. Everything in the lives of Indigenous People was centered around Spirituality. Every step, every word, every act was an extension of prayer and a relationship with The Great Spirit, the Earth, and all things.
The Spiritual Center of Spirit Song is the Sweat Lodge. The Sweat Lodge has been used Ceremonially by Indigenous People all over the world. It is quite possibly the oldest Ceremonial Tradition of all, with the probable exception of the Fire Ceremony. No one knows for sure. Every culture has different stories and ledgends.
At Spirit Song, there is a Traditional Native American Sweat Lodge that is available for visitors to participate in. The Sweat Lodge has long been held as a prayer, purification, and healing Ceremony. It is not a Religious Ceremony! It is a Spiritual Ceremony and is by virtue, therefore, non-denominational.
The Sweat Lodge here at Spirit Song is facilitated by a man who has participated in Ceremonials for over 25 yrs. He has received many visions that have led him to the place that he is now at in his life. This is not to say that he is any better than anyone else. Only that this was given to him to do. We are all equals with different things to do.
If you are planning on visiting the Grand Canyon or Northern Arizona and would like to participate in a Sweat Lodge, please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to try to schedule a Sweat Lodge durning the time of your visit. There is NEVER a charge for a Traditional Sweat Lodge. A gift to the Fire Tender and to the Alter is Traditional, but is not obligatory.
It is Traditional to have a commmunity/potluck meal together after the Lodge. If you cannot prepare a dish for the meal, you may contribute in another form if desired.
We maintain a certain level of modesty and all participents are required to wear clothing in the Sweat Lodge. Men may wear shorts. Shirt is optional. Women MUST wear shorts and shirt, long skirt and shirt, or long dress(such as a shift). Keep in mind that it will be hot in the Sweat Lodge and you will be wet when we come out. You will need a towel and change of clothes. It can be cold durning the Winter months and cool even in the Summer here. Bring appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. There will be water provided to rinse off. At this time we have no bathing facilities. In Northern Arizona almost everyone has to haul their water. We try to keep things as primative as possible so that you can get a feel for how it used to be. |
