These were the games which introduced the pokemon phenomena to the world. Manufactured in 1996 in Japan this game introduced 151 creatures which are now almost world famous. It sold millions of units. Made for the Nintendo Gameboy, it allowed trading between both the games to complete the pokedex. This game was the stepping stone of success of the Pokemon franchise. It was a massive success, though it did have glitches most famous of which was the mew glitch.
