Introduction
Well since this is a pokémon site, it would be really pointless if you didn't know what pokémon is. So I've taken the liberty to make an introduction to pokémon.
What is a pokémon?
The word pokémon is made up of the words Pocket and monster. In the games and its various other spinoffs pokémon are like magical creatures with special abilities. Their main purpose in the game is to capture and train them. People training them are called Pokémon trainers, you are one in the game too. Your main objective is to defeat all the trainers and capture all the pokémon. You'll also have to save the Pokémon world from evil teams who want to use pokémon for their own evil purposes.
Beginnings
Pokémon was created by Mr. Satoshi Tajiri around 1995. It was released as a pair of two role playing games Pokémon Red and Blue which could trade with themselves. They were designed for the Game Boy as the console.
These games soon picked up popularity, and turned into a household franchise with an anime, TCG and various other spinoffs.
Present
Pokémon has now become a multi- billion dollar franchise. It recently celebrated its 11th anniversary. Its most recent games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were smash hits, selling 2 million units within 2 weeks in the US alone. The current future for the Franchise looks good and bright, and with millions of fans why shouldn't it?
