The Pokémon anime mainly follows the adventures of the main protagonist, Ash Ketchum, a 10 year old boy who dreams to become the world's greatest pokémon master. On the way he meets friends who join him along the way. As the series proceeds Ash makes new friends, captures new pokemon and learns more about the pokemon world. Of course Ash makes some enemies too. Mainly Jessie and James along with their talking Meowth, who always try to capture Ash's starter Pikachu. They also have this tendency to come dressed in obvious costumes but are almost never discovered. But they always fail. Though in my opinion they are the better characters, as they had had most character development. Most of the Pokémon episodes (apart from the gym battles, contest, league battle episodes) basically flollow a similar format. Ash goes to some new town, forest, etc. There he meets some new character of the day. He's probably introduced to some pokémon too. The character has some problem relating to the pokémon in some way. Then Ash and his friends decide to help them and become all goody-goody heroes. After helping them they go away. And do almost the same thing the next day. (Boring much :P)
