My beautiful, wonderful, spacious, functional, roomy, and absolutely dreamy kitchen! Once we tore down the wall separating this huge kitchen and dining area it opened up the way for group participation for the whole family. I even have a pantry now, and I am able to cook for and feed a small army. Thank you, God!
This is definitely the gathering place in our house. It serves as our living room, game room, music room, and office. We left the space under the stairs open so the kids would have a place to play their X-box yet still be in earshot when I called them to help me at dinnertime. We also put a laminate track down in our heaviest traffic areas. Since you can walk around our house in a complete circle it seemed like the logical thing to do in order to preserve the carpet.
Wasn't that a single story home?
Realizing the need for a bigger home we decided to add a second story on our existing home. With the cost of homes recently skyrocketing and our prior experience with remodeling we decided that adding a second story would be the best way for us to go. Going from a 2050 sq foot, four bedroom, two bath home to a two story, 2700 sq foot, six bedroom, three bath, two laundry room home is no small endeavor. Please check back regularly as this page is updated with our progress and journey that led to the completion of our much appreciated home.
Where is Extreme Makeover- Home Edition?
With our house already in mid-construction (roofless) as we left for Russia to bring home our two girls there was an unexpected down-pour that flooded our home. Hearing second hand, that the ceiling had collapsed in three of the rooms and all the flooring in the entire house was ruined brought me to tears. Seeing the damage firsthand once we were home brought me to tears again. Being reminded that God only gives us as much as we can handle, I am still trying to figure out His plans. Everyday, my new appreciation for little things has shown me that God does indeed have the best interests of our family in mind.
